1979 280zx, Slick Top, 5 speed, low miles

Offering my 280zx for sale. This is a very solid, great driving low mileage car with a few basic modifications. This is a 2+2 model, and is in very nice condition for a 38 year old car. Body is solid and straight, interior is really nice, and the car drives great. Five digit odometer reads 32k miles.

Most of this car has original paint on it. The hood has been repainted at some point and there is evidence of small touch-up behind both front wheels, but the rest of the car looks original. The original paint is thin and has fine scratches. I have not found any major rust on this car. There are some very small bubbles around the windshield. The under carriage is nice solid and very clean for a car this age. The interior is also mostly original and in really nice shape. No rips in the seats or door panels and the carpet is really nice. The only two things to note are two dash cracks and the headliner cloth has been replaced with a sprayed on surface that actually works really well with the car.

This is a 5 speed car, so it’s fun to drive. Being a “Slick top” makes it nice and rigid and no awful T-top or sunroof leaks to deal with. This car also has 4 wheel disk brakes, power steering and air conditioning. The A/C is complete and the compressor clicks on but appears to need a refrigerant charge to cool.

As you can see from the pictures, this car sits beautifully. It has been lowered on Tein springs. It also has adjustable control arms up front, bump steer spacers and poly bushed sway bar end links (front and rear) installed. It has a header going to a 2.5" exhaust into a single Dynomax muffler that really sounds good... Sort of a mellow deep tone, not loud. It also has a very pretty aftermarket aluminum radiator and an aftermarket fuel rail installed. It’s sitting on a nice set of XXR wheels with brand new 225/50/ZR16 tires on all 4 corners. It has recently been treated to a full service (Plugs, wires, cap rotor, oil and filter). It has a drop in K&N air filter. Also, the injector connectors and hoses have been replaced.

I am the 3rd owner of the car. The first was a Doctor in Knoxville who owned it until around 2011 or so. I was told that something mechanical caused the car to be parked by the original owner for many years and eventually sold. The car was fixed and put back on the road by the second owner, whom is also the one who performed the modifications to the car. I have owned it for about a year, and it’s been a great car. As you can see from the pictures though, I’m more of a Porsche guy. I really like this car, but don’t use it as much as it deserves to be. This would make a great addition to an existing collection, or an entry level classic, or even a daily driver!!!!

Fly in and drive it home. Clear TN title in my name. Buyer responsible for shipping if required. Closest airport is Nashville (BNA) which is about an hour away from me. $500 deposit due immediately after listing ends. Balance is due via cash in person or wire transfer. If in doubt or you have any questions, please ask!!! At $7995 this car is priced to sell!!! You won't find a nicer one at this price. No offers or trades please. $7995 is what I want for this car, it's well worth that and it's what I would set the reserve at if it was an auction style listing, it's priced fairly and is described very honestly. Use the Buy it now and save yourself the grief and BS of bidding over a week.
