Restored in Barcelona, Spain and imported to the USA in 2016! A wonderful example with most powerful 602cc offered, 4-speed manual transmission, front disc brakes, fender skirts, round headlamps, and more! A brilliantly fun car to drive!
The French designed and developed Citroen 2CV was created in late 1930’s to help motorize farmers who still found horses the only form of travel, but the program was paused with the start of WWII. The 2CV needed to be simple, cost effective, and easy on fuel consumption. Additionally, these vehicles needed to be versatile for both street and light off-road use, so a long travel 4-wheel independent suspension was employed. If a large cargo was required, the roof could be folded back to allow long objects to stay out in the wind. The test engines proved remarkably durable with a running time of 1000 hours at full throttle without fault, equivalent to being driven constantly for 50,000 miles! This magnificent power plant was then mated with front-wheel-drive and a brilliant 4-speed transmission! Characteristics most manufactures wouldn’t incorporate for many years later. Not only did Citroen bring a fine automobile to market in 1948, they ended up designing a vehicle that would stay in production for the next 4 decades with fundamentally no major changes. For this reason, parts and servicing options remain readily available today! Their charm, extraordinary mechanical reliability, and modern collectability, have allowed them to find parking spots in collections the world over!
Offered here is a Burgundy & Black 1977 Citroen 2CV6 Sedan fitted with the highest output 602cc air-cooled 2 cylinder engine providing a modest 33 horsepower and paired with the easy shifting 4-speed manual transmission. This export model was built in Vigo, Spain and served there for most of its life. Early registration records included with this example support a life in Spain from June 1977 when new all the way through to 2008. The car was then restored in Barcelona, Spain and later purchased by an American collector car enthusiast. It was shipped to the United States in the spring of 2016 and sold to its only USA owner in Ohio in May 2016. To our best estimation, it has been driven nearly exactly 2,000 kms (1,240mi) since completion and continues to perform truly awesome!
Options on the car include inboard front disc brakes, heater, cowl ventilation, retractable folding roof, all original Luna Sekurit window glass with flip-up side glass, push-button windshield washer, manually adjustable front round chrome headlamps, front bumper guards, dual outside mirrors, front bucket seats with 3-point harnesses, passenger vanity mirror, ashtray, single-spoke steering wheel, rear fender skirts, radial tires, and more! It starts with ease, engages the transmission perfectly, and motivates down the road just right! The odometer just recently rolled over to accumulate 100,057kms (62,172mi). It comes with original European license plates still attached, two workshop manuals, a parts catalog, and extra mineral fluid specific to the braking system which was recently flushed in 2017. It is titled here in Missouri as a 1977 Citroen, and ready to transfer. Please feel free to call with questions or schedule a chance to review in person. You will never forget the smile created on your face once behind the wheel! Simple. Head turning. Fun!
