This is a 1981 Citroen 2CV6, 602 cc engine that runs great. I bought her in 2002 from a gentleman in California. He had been around the car since the early 1990’s and thought the odometer had turned over once. If so, it had around 130,000 km on it when I bought it. I have only put 9,400 km on in 15 years. He had put on the chrome headlights, custom-made canvas top (in very good condition), exhaust muffler, transmission mount, complete clutch assembly (still strong), sound-proofed the engine compartment, pre-wired for a radio and custom made speaker boxes for the trunk.
Since owning her, I have had the following done: heater duct, both air ducts, wheel covers, carpet, rebuilt front axles, cooling fan assembly, overhaul carburetor, spark plugs and tune up, front and rear brake shoes (has drum brakes) with wheel cylinders, brake master cylinder, 123 electronic ignition system, air cleaner to carburetor hose, coil, battery (2015), 4 new SBR tires (installed Oct 2015 – approx. 700 miles), spare has never been on the ground.
She has always been kept in a heated and air conditioned garage here in Texas. I have never driven her in the rain. She starts right up (manual choke), no smoke, does not require adding oil between changes. Transmission is quiet and shifts smoothly in all gears. The steering is smooth and doesn’t pull. Some things that might need done: front floor pan on the driver’s side, patch the front passenger’s floor, cable for heater control and when brakes are applied firmly it pulls steering wheel.
Parts are available from www.westernhemispheres.com and www.2cvsource.com.
The hood looks rough to fair. The rest of the paint is fair to good. For a daily driver she is ready to start enjoying. Passed Texas safety inspection in July 2017.
The original jack, jack handle, Haynes repair manual, oil filter wrench, various bulbs, belt, original distributor parts, some other pieces and parts, and an English version of the user’s manual will be provided.
I will provide assistance to your shipper with loading the vehicle. My son-in-law is placing this ad for me. I will be available for answering questions.
Thank you for looking and I hope you have as much enjoyment as I have had with this little Citroen 2CV6.
