1956 Chrysler Imperial Additional Info:
Here's a 1956 Imperial Sedan by Chrysler Corporation, equipped with factory air and all kinds of documentiation back to day 1! Rarely will you get an opportunity to pick up such an imposing, comfortable, and documented piece of automotive history! What makes that opportunity even better is our low reserve! Simply selling as part of downsizing the collection, this car needs nothing and would happily take you home anywhere in the country!
Originally sold new on June 15th, 1956, at R O Gould dealership in Long Beach California, it factory equipped with Air Conditioning, Power Steering, tinted windows and a power antennae! But what make this special is that since this car was built at the end of the 1956 production year, it is also equipped with the new Three-Speed Torqueflite automatic transmission! That option alone makes this car a pleasure to drive on the freeways at any speed the driver would like! I have a full book of documents from the first few decades of the car's life in California and that of course goes with the car.
We bought this car around late 2013. It arrived with a blown engine and that's why we got it for such a good deal. We replaced it with another 354CI Hemi that we resealed and cleaned up and the car now runs like a sewing machine. So smooth and reliable! The interior was tattered and needing help, so we sourced materials from SMS ($$$) and had a very high end shop here in Lubbock, TX redo the seats exactly to factory specs! These are probably more comfortable than the chair/couch you have at home! Door panels are still original and show wear, but no major damage, so they were left alone.
Car has been on multiple cross-country trips and is entirely dialed in and ready to roll! Chassis was entire gone through when we got the car and everything was either rebuilt, replaced, or maintained. Tires are factory-correct Bias-Ply Whitewalls and are in wonderful condition and totally road-worthy.
Note: Car is a Factory Air Conditioning car, but the compressor and engine brackets were not with the car when we got it, so they are absent. But the trunk mounted unit is still tehre as is the rear air-intakes.
Paint was redone prior to our ownership, and is stunning single-stage! No signs or repair, rust or damage. Chrome and stainless are in great shape, some pitting that's common with a car that lived it's life by the California beaches, but hardly noticeably except under scrutiny.
Offered with a low reserve that's below what most price guides would appraise the car at, right now I'm needing room and sadly, this one has to go.
This car deserves to go to a good home and is an excellent entry-level collector car or first old-car for the young enthusiast. Feel free to message me with any questions and I'll answer them as soon as they come in.
I'm not a dealer and there are no fees outside of the final bid! Car is located in Lubbock, Texas and is available for inspections and/or test drives.
