1962 Chrysler Newport, door Hardtop Station Wagon....
Selling my 62 Newport Hardtop Wagon. Not going to be able to finish it so I'm letting it go. According to my research (if I am correct), n 1962 Chrysler only made 2,363 of these 4 door hardtop, passenger wagons!! This particular one was ordered with factory power brake, ower steering, nd A/C options. The complete underside of this car has been sand blasted and cleaned, ealed, nd sprayed with an industrial strength chassis black paint. Any questionable areas in the floor pans were removed and new pans were hand built, ead rolled, nd replaced.Inside pans were cleaned after all repairs were made and then sealed and undercoated. New Factory molded carpet with sound deadening was then installed along with the factory seats.
This car runs, rives, nd stops .....but I have not driven it on the public road yet. I did not take any extra pains with the drivetrain other than getting it mobile because my plans were to do a late model HEMI/automatic pull out swap in it and disc brake conversion this spring. Currently it has the original 361, 8 with factory push button automatic which runs great and doesn't smoke.
To make it mobile I installed NEW:Distributor, ist. cap, otor, oints, lugs, ires, uel pump, uel pump push rod, uel filter, uel hoses, il and filter, ll fluids, rake hoses, tarter, nd new wheels and tires ... ALL NEW!!
Every part and piece original to the car is still with it. So there's nothing you'll have to hunt down if you wanted to do a full restoration. Everything's there... Trim, lass, nobs, andles, tc., tc....
This car would take very little to make a daily driver at this point... The hard work has been done. There is absolute no rust in the floors! The rockers are solid and all factory steel... Never rusted, nbsp;the front two fender bottoms have a tiny amount of rust that is easily fixed. Tailgate is solid and rust free. Door bottoms have a few holes and pits but they have been blasted and any rust has been removed then sealed and painted. Gas tank is sold and not rusted at all.
