1951 Chevrolet Other Pickups Additional Info:
This is a true Barn Find, 1951 Chevrolet Pickup 360, 49246 original miles, I found this truck less than a mile from my house and never knew it was tucked away in the barn, The truck has always been a local truck in the southern illinois area. It was bought new and two weeks later the original owner passed away and his wife left it sitting in the bar, when one day the guys uncle that i bought it from was at a rummage sale and bought the truck and drove it and owned it for years when sometime in the seventies he decided to upgrade to a newer truck . He bought a 1972 c10 and he stored this one in the barn and wasnt driven for years. He did go out and start it and let it runs every so often until he passed away and then his nephew took ownership of the truck in 1999 and he put a rebuilt 1956 235 6cyl in the truck because he said one time when his uncle was starting i, it backfired and cracked a pisto, I still have the original motor and head that will go with the truck. The truck was driven until 2004 when he backed it into his barn and its sat there ever since . He had it covered with a cover that was made for the truck and goes with the truck. He said the panels that go with the truck were offered through the dealership at the time of purchase by the original owner, They are in great shap, I have no idea if they were original dealer offered or not just what he told me. He said the truck has always been stored in a barn its whole life, There is no rust issues anywhere in the floors or cab mounts even the battery tray is in excellent shap, This is a solid truck interior is almost like new still has original rubber floor mat. The fan motor work, the vacuum wipers work, horn works, Drives Great, stops great, Headlights work tail lights brake and turn signals wor, Still a 6volt system with a NEW BATTERY, and all guages still work!! The gas gauge pegs full so i think it would work if it had a sending unit replaced. This is a chance to own a low mileage truck that is in unbelievable condition for its age!! I pulled it out of the barn where it had been sittinig since 2004 and drained the tank put a new fuel pump on and replaced the battery and it started up and ran GREAT! I have drove it down the back roads and the clutch works great and is very tight drives like a new one would have, I would say even though it will start right up and drive i think the gas tank could be drained again just by the color of the gas in the in line filter i installed, but it runs great and no issues with the driveabilty of the truck! The tires i just added air to them and they are holding fine and run down the road just fine although they do have some age on them. It appears to be original paint as if you get it in the right light you can still see the original owners name and address and phrase not for hire on the doors, but you really have to look to see it, This truck will make a great advertising piece or daily cruise, or take to car shows. Its in such good shape for an old truck . If your looking for something like this you dont want to miss out on this one they dont come around like this one very often. If you want more pictures i can send you pictures of anything you want to see. feel free to ask any questions before you buy i will answer all questions as soon as i can. you can contact me at 618-926-2068
