This car has been my baby since February 1994. I am the second official owner and have the title that still shows the mileage I bought it with of 16,541 box A which in AZ means accurate Original mileage. I have put on about another 15k in the past 22 years out of which most of the time my car just sat in my yard.
Here's the story. I had another Nomad that I loved and I knew I didn't have the money to restore her. It broke my heart to see spiders make webs under her so I sold her to someone who promised me they would restore her. The didn't and I found out later they took parts off her.
When I found this car (her name is TINK because she is a female tank) she was on a ranch in Globe AZ where a man in his 70s or 80s threw thick white paint on her to make her cooler and was hooking a tractor hook to the rear bumper and dragging her around the ranch to use as a storage shed. His father bought TINK brand new in 4/1959 and he and his wife (his parents) drove it until his death in 1961 at which time it was taken to the ranch where it sat until someone told me abouther so I drove up to Globe to see her.
The man asked why I wanted her and said he had turned down over 20 people in the 33 years the car set on the ranch who wanted to buy her because she had sentimental value as his dad's last car. I told him how the other Nomad I sold broke my heart and that I wouldn't make the same mistake twice. He looked at me, told me he believed me and sold me TINK.
I NEVER NEVER NEVER wanted to ever sell TINK, but at the time I didn't have kids and now I have kids and they don't want TINK and since I know they will sell her if/when I die, I would rather someone gets her who will WANT her.
When I bought TINK she had not been registered since 1961 and Phoenix motor vehicles had to go all the way to microphish in the basement archives of MVD just to find her records to transfer the title to me.
I have rebuilt the engine and transmission because the AZ heat destroys the seals so even though she is low original mileage the front seat is cheap covered in velour, the back seat was down for over 33 years and I believe it is still in unused condition (it was last time I looked but AZ heat is vicious. I have her roof rack (not sure if original) in the barn. We replaced the wind down rear window control with an electric one from a Kingwood wagon. She had a padded dash but sun got it and she has original factory in dash air conditioning with power steering and power brakes. Tires are all new but have been sitting.
Condition is AZ RUST Free for the most part and tiny dings from being dragged around ranch.
Don't insult her or me if you are interested. I did turn down $25000 approximately 15 years ago when someone saw her and I showed him the documented title but at the time it would not have mattered if it was 1 million she was not for sale at the time.
The price is BARELY negotiable since I don't NEED to sell her but I do want someone who will want her since my kids don't
