Wonderful 1960, top of the line Nomad Station wagon, starting @ just $1960 with no reserve.
Never tampered with, customized, nor is it a full restoration, just used, maintained along the way and loved.
Bought new in Washington D.C. @ Barry-Pate Motor Co. on July 12, 1960. Then moved across the country, living in places like AL, TX, and finally CA (many original registrations from the various states over the years are included). Original Car invoice showing all the options, and confirming the original color also included. Motor is believed to be original numbers matching, but I have not confirmed this.
283 V8 runs strong and with lots of power. No smoking or issues. Full service as well as updated HEI ignition, new alternator, battery, fuel pump, rebuilt carb, plugs, wires, filters and fluids. New dual exhaust from the intake manifolds all the way out the back.
Newly rebuilt radiator and new water pump along with all new belts.
Powerglide 2 speed Automatic shifts flawlessly. No issues.
Brakes are newly serviced with newer power booster and master cylinder. Braking is smooth, even, effortless and without issue.
Power steering is smooth, effortless and without issue.
New shocks & suspension bushings. Factory front sway bar with new bushings also.
New 215/75/14 American Classic tires.
All 4 windows, both wing windows, and power rear window all function nicely. Excellent originalfactory soft-reytinted glass all the way around. In the right lighting, it is absolutely lovelycontrasted against the whitebody with the teal green interior glowing inside. Windshield has a parking sticker in it from 1974 when the car was in TX, and is still in excellent condition, especially considering it has been in there 40+ years that we know of...might even be the original windshield?
Heater works well with all 3 fan speeds functioning properly.
All exterior lights function properly including turn signals, high/low beans and license plate lights.
Horn, gauges, wipers, clock, odometer, etc. all seem to be functioning accurately.
All door locks function on the same key still.
Car runs, drives, stops and steers nicely.
Very nice britework, trim, aluminum and chrome....above average I would say.
Recent repaint in original color (driver, parade quality, not concourse).
Interior is very nice, but showing signs of age(many pictures should give you the idea). New carpet, new headliner. Excellent trim, gauges, door handles, knobs etc. Visors included though not installed at time of these pictures taken.
Fender skirts included.
Spare tire, and original jack included.
Original points distributer included.
Original replacement rubber suspension A arm covers for the engine compartment included.
High quality vintage / retro looking digital radio with AUX cord for phone/ipod.
Many pictures of the underside of the car are included in the link below. Car came with factory undercoating and this may have preserved the underside better than most. Frame, and longitudinals are excellent. Not a rust free car, but better than most, and the car has real solid bones, with lots of integrity. Spare tire storage bottom is still rust free!
All in all, just a wonderful period kept wagon. Not concourse, but something you can really enjoy. Turnkey ready.
