1973 Chevrolet Blazer Additional Info:

This is an as raced 73 Chevy blazer it did the Repco rally and Australia. It was built for Rod Hall. It returned to the United States and went to the basement of the museum. It is all original and untouched. The fuel cell has been cleaned and has new foam and is it it isn’t running and driving condition .

Vehicle Details

Rod Hall, and Steve Mizell and Jim Fricker decided to build a 1973 blazer and take it to Australia for the Repco rally. This truck was built by the best of the best and is a total time capsule! We planned a freshen it up and take it for a spin at the upcoming @norraracing_official Mexican 1000! A rally that took them 12,000 miles around the continent of Australia.The event is called the Repco Reliability Trial 13-day event Starting and finishing in Melbourne, $50,000 in prize money up for grabs. Actual construction of the Blazer was done by Pancho Weaver (noted off-road race car builder) and his crew Dennis Scofield, Bruce Dyea and Tom

Morris). Charlie Haga

handled the front suspension system and Dennis Fuji produced the horse-power.

The Blazer closely resembles a

SCORE Class 8 pickup in design with the chassis remaining near stock in configuration and the rollcage and front shock assembly being a separate yet integral part of the whole chassis. The rollage is built from two-inch 4130 chrome-moly tube, .120-inch thick. All of the anchor points are rubber mounted so no part of the rollcage is welded to the frame. This idea, used in most winning Class 8 pickups, gives the chassis and the vehicle tremendous flexibility over rough terrain. In the front, the ball joints are literally handmade (Bushmaster by McQuay-Norris) and the A-arms are Chevy one-ton. The special shock mounts support six (three per side) Gabriel Baja Ryders.

The stock coil springs are reinforced by a set of Charlie Haga plastic suspension balls.

The rear end suspension is almost bulletproof. It features an Eton one-ton rear end housing, and Summers Brothers 35-spline axles and third member spool (4.10 differential ratio).
