Selling Bert, my 1955 Chevy 3100 First Series Pickup. Early 55’s used the 1954 body and are fairly rare. Has a strong running 235 with a smooth Chevy S-10 5 speed transmission. Previous owner said motor was rebuilt about 10 years ago (no receipts) – but I believe it.No smoke or odd noises, no to minor oil seepage, and blue engine paint looks fairly fresh. Still has the original farm truck rear axle (I think). Could not post - but can email a video of running engine.
Body is pretty solid. Pickup box was removed and sandblasted, now in grey primer. Has some dings and some extra drilled holes. There is some rust in all 4 cab corners (see last 4-5 photos).Driver floor is very good. Passenger floor has a partial floor pan riveted to the top. Yet you look underneath and there are no visible rust holes. Most of the interior was carefully sanded and repainted with Dupli Color auto paint very close to the original. The seat is very cushy and upholstered in blue fabric. The floors were sanded and painted with Por15 rust killer paint. Most of the bottom of the cab and about half the frame was sanded / wire brushed and painted with black chassis paint. Not concours but looks pretty good. The driver door is a good original; the passenger door has rusted out at the inside base where the weatherstrip was located. A decent replacement door is included with the saleBoth doors need new glass and weather stripping. The driver front fender has old body damage with bad welding and cracked bondo, you will probably want to replace. Grille has some old bondo.
Lights work; heater works; vacuum wipers try to work. The truck was converted to 12 volt that charges well.Has an electric fuel pump. Oil pressure and ammeter gauges work; gas gauge does not; front turn signals work but not in back, and there is some bad splicing in the rear tail light harness. Speedometer jumps around. New front turn signal housings, rear tail lights, and stainless bed chains. Tires look very good but they are probably old.
The rear axle gears seem to limit top speed to around 50 mph, you may want to upgrade to a better ratio. THE BRAKES BARELY WORK, happened this week, the passenger rear wheel cylinder is leaking.Plan on a good brake job before you drive in traffic. Sold as is and with no warranty. Located in Edmond, OK 73025 I can help load. OK title in my name. Selling due to new project arrival.Bert is a good old truck and deserves a good adoption. Starting bid $8K no reserve. Thanks.
