Here is a great running, salt free 1978 Chevrolet C20 CAMPER SPECIAL Pick Up Truck. It has the mighty 454 big block mated with the Turbo 400 transmission. It is worthy of the Mississippi Antique Collector Registration Title and the Antique License Plate that it displays! It is well equipped with factory air conditioning, tilt, cruise, and more. It can be driven anywhere as it is. I will still suggest general maintenance before taking it across the country, though. I’m sure the tires are at least 20 years old. I bought it out of California about 12 years ago and DROVE it to my (then) home in Wisconsin. It sat in my garage in Wisconsin for most of that time after that. Of course I frequently started and ran it to keep it from deteriorating. At one point I could not get the fuel pump arm to seat properly so I converted it to an electric fuel pump and she runs great and has that big block grunt. Currently it resides in salt free Mississippi where it is driven maybe once per week. This is a perfect ‘restoration to new’ project or just use it as an everyday survivor! There are many directions you can go with it. Most of the equipment works. The cruise stopped working and the temperature gauge does not work. I keep all of outer lights working down to the back up lights and even the license plate lamps. This vehicle has been well preserved. The paint is original. There is a crease on the passenger door when my mirror touched the garage door. I have the door panel and mirror off to easily get to the creased area - maybe hammer it out? All glass is great with no chips or cracks. If you examine the photos carefully, you can see some of the beauty and potential to take this to a show truck level. Until then, as they say, it is original only once!Reality has struck me. I’m not getting any younger. I’ve had it for well over a decade and have not achieved my goal to make it that show truck that I envisioned so I am sacrificing my baby to someone who might want to continue on that journey. That being said, I will consider barter options for a great running Class A RV, a rollback tow truck, or a great running 26’ box truck.
