1956 Chevrolet Other Additional Info:
Rarity, beauty, and extra chrome - we're usually looking for these features in a classic car, but this 1956 Chevrolet Cameo gives you all of that and a truck bed! So when it has been painstakingly restored less than 350 miles ago, you know this is the most amazing classic truck that you can get your hands on today.
These Cameo Carriers were considered the suburban-style pickups in their time. After all, you could make your deliveries during the day like any other truck, but then the highly stylized design meant you could still be proud to keep it in your driveway at night. In fact, these really showcased some of the best features that came from Chevy's cars. After all, the stylish flush-fitting bed was created by utilizing the fiberglass knowledge from the Corvette line. Plus, the tailfin design makes this one as attractive the '56 Bel Air. The reason why you can pick up on these details so nicely is that there has been a heavy investment into this truck's restoration. It means the big chrome front end shines like a mirror, and the Bombay Ivory paint has an amazing luster. And speaking of the paint, the white was the only color available. But the high-style design also had well-coordinated red accenting to draw added attention to the best features. This includes the cab's wraparound rear glass, the wheels with two-piece trim and wide whitewalls, and the truck that now carries pristine and glossy lumber on the floor. It's all the product of a multi-year restoration, and we have $67k in build receipts documenting the journey. All this investment was worthwhile, because Chevrolet only made 1,460 Cameo Carriers in 1956 (they made nearly two and a half times more Corvettes that year!)
More of Chevy's best is seen in the interior, too. The two-tone cloth and vinyl bench has more in common with the Bel Air than the 3100-series truck, and the door panels were done to match. Even the dash has this two-tone intertwined nicely. You get all your favorite vintage Chevy truck elements, like the grippy three-spoke steering wheel and fan-style gauge panel. And the working heater is an especially nice touch, because there are going to be plenty of pre-dawn drives on your way to Cars and Coffee to show this one off.
Just like the '56 Bel Air, the Cameo could be optioned with the new and powerful 265 cubic-inch small block. So it makes us thrilled to see a classic presentation of this restored V8 under the hood. The bold orange block radiates from under the clean/dark components, and the classic cursive script valve covers are always cool. Even the undercarriage photos show how detail-oriented the full restoration was. All these fresh components mean this has a solid feeling on the road, and the Hydramatic automatic transmission is true classic motoring with ease.
This is the amazing classic where not everybody knows it exists, but once they see this award-worthy restored example, they will forever remember the Cameo Carrier. So don't let your opportunity a pristine rarity slip away, call today!
