The old saying is "They are only new once"... and this one has somehow "survived" the test of time. 63years is a long time for a car to be this solid and look and run this well. I used to own a muscle car restoration business and they're nice, all new and shiny with aftermarket parts, but there is something about a "real" one that hasn't been redone that is impossible to duplicate. I bought this beautiful '57 from a good friend that just searches for original, non-restored tri-five Chevys. His favorite is a 55. He takes them and goes right through them mechanically front to back so they drive great. We both "drive" our cars .. no trailer queens. Makes us feel young again .. which we are not! If you'relooking for a Saturday night cruiser or one you can drive across country...this is the one!!Anyway, it runs and drives great. It has the factory 283 cid 2bbl single exhaust V8 with a rare option .. power steering. That, to me, changes everything! Steers like a dream. I will list the things that my friend has done in the last few months to make this car so nice. I'm sure "serious buyers" will have more questions so call or text my cell and I'll give you honest answers. I've owned these cars since I was 10 years old on the farm and I'm now 70 so I know them pretty well! A 1957 was always my favorite. I think the styling is so 50's and a beautifulwork of art. A true icon in the classic car world!
Here is the list:New gas tankNew fuel line and hosesNew fuel pumpNew thermostatNew valve cover gasketsNew rear leaf springsNew shocksNew rear brake lines and hosesNew rear wheel cylindersNew seat beltsNew exhaustNew tiresNew master cylinderRebuilt front wheel cylindersNew front brake hosesBrake shoes were like newNew Chevy floor matsNew sill platesNew cam kit for turn signalsNew batteryRear differential fluid changedOil and filter changedNew front grille emblemNew passenger side mirrorNew package tray (have original)
EVERY SINGLE THING WORKS ON THIS CARIncluding the dome light when you open any door. The hand emergency brake works.Every single light works including the glove box.The radio works. The glass is all there and the windows roll up and down like butter. The front "seam" in the front seat has come loose but no tears .. just needs to be restitched. The headliner, sun visors, seats, door panels etc. etc. are all factory original. All original uncut dash with original steering wheel..no cracks. All of the stainless and chrome is original and very nice. The doors don't sag and close with one finger. The motor doesn't smoke or tick, has good power and runs cool.It will sit and idle all day and not get hot. Even in Florida. The powerglide transmission shifts perfectly. The brakes have all been redone and the car stops great.I can go on and on..what can I say? This is a rare find and THE REAL DEAL!It appears to have had a little spot paintwork back in the day but for the mostpart it is all "original paint". No bondo and basically no rust.I have the factory wheels with the new whitewall tires and also the factory spinner hub caps.I bought all new 17" torque thrust wheel and tires as soon as I got it. 20 miles on them maybe.I will include them in the sale at an additional cost. (not included in the auction)
This car is as "real" as it gets. Everything fits. Everything works. The frame and body supports and floors and rocker panels and fenders and doors and quarter panels etc. are awesome. These cars are usually worn out rust buckets all bondoed up! (I don't think that's a word) but you know what I mean.
Bid with confidence. This car is a joy to own and drive and gets thumbs up everywhere you take it. It's just like money in the bank. They just keep going up in value. If you're wondering why I'm selling it it's because I have too many toys and don't really use it. I'm sure I will regret selling it just as my friend did when he sold it to me. Someone needs to take it out on weekends and enjoy it. It's a shame to let it just sit in my garage. I can assure you that you won't find a nicer "original survivor".
