1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Additional Info:
A car like this 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS has always looked quite means in black. But not only have they upgraded the attitude in this one, but also it has a larger performance-built V8 that's ready for nitrous.
Building a cool speed machine out of a fourth-gen Monte Carlo SS makes a lot of sense. The design was all about being aerodynamically enhanced. The front end was reconfigured to cut the air, and there's a small ducktail spoiler on the rear. And while that was done at the factory, this one was given an even larger upgrade in attitude. The stripe kit and badging were eliminated to give this a leaner/meaner look to the black. And we know you instantly spotted that lightweight fiberglass hood with tall cowl. Not only do those polished wheels have that classic drag racer slotted mag style, but also this has a skinny front tires and wide rear Nitto Extreme Drag radials.
Inside, the burgundy interior has been changed over to black, but that's not the real first upgrades you are going to notice. This has been outfitted with competition-ready pieces like the half roll cage, high-back racing seats, and five-point racing harnesses. There are still stock Monte Carlo pieces, like the power windows and the sports steering wheel on the tilt column. But what you'll really love is that the setup has been upgraded to keep your focus on the power. It includes a column-mounted SunPro tach, crisp/clean oil and water readouts, and B&M floor shifter. The trunk now has the fuel cell, battery, and nitrous bottle for good weight distribution.
These SS cars only received a 305 cubic-inch HO motor from Chevrolet. That's a fine powerplant, but it's no match for the 350ci V8 that now lives in this engine bay. This is said to be a professional shop build with less than 5k miles on the motor. It includes a big Holley four-barrel carburetor, Weiand intake, MSD ignition, and long tube headers that feed the H-pipe dual exhaust. It's already a powerful package, but when you want to turn the scenery into a blur, this one is already plumbed for nitrous. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is built for stout duty like this, and it has a stall converter to keep you in the optimal powerband. Plus, features like the rear sway bar and front disc brakes keep you in firm control.
This is the great custom classic that truly lives up to the Super Sport part of its name. So if you want a well-built power machine for a great price, call today!
