1966 Chevrolet Caprice Additional Info:
We love a car like this 1966 Chevrolet Caprice because it's a range-topping classic Chevy that retains a ton of vintage personality. And with plenty of big block power under the hood, this premium hardtop is ready cruise the boulevard.
This first-year Caprice coupe is the start of something very special. Chevy gave the Caprice name to the top trim full-size sedan in '65, and it proved so popular that they decided to add a unique pillarless coupe the next year - and we all know the hardtops are the coolest coupes to come out of the '60s. The roofline is unique to the Caprice, and it looks quite regal. Being the top-level Chevrolet also meant not skipping out on chrome anywhere. Caprices added brightwork over the Impala up front, and there's no missing those cool tail lamps with wraparound bright ribbing. The overall presentation is not perfect. The paint and chrome could use an investment if you wanted to go from a street machine style to high-gloss chic hardtop. But when a significant classic is also this complete, it just takes time and effort to get to the prime spot at the car show.
The interior is another place that has the classic look we absolutely love. The tones of light blue harmonizes with the exterior dark blue, and it has an absolutely vintage look, right down to the button-top presentation on the seats. A full-size coupe means plenty of room for family and friends, but the fold-down armrest across the front bench is a reminder that the driver is always king. This really has the right level of classic cool, including plenty of wood-like trim. This is a factory A/C car, and the controls are in place, but it will need more work to return full system. Even the upgrades are quite vintage, like the AM/FM stereo with 8-track. In fact, the only modern update you may spot is the cleanly installed AutoMeter auxiliary gauge trio. They signal there's something extra special under the hood.
The fender callouts tell you there's big block power in this Chevelle, and the engine bay doesn't disappoint. This V8 looks like it's radiating power with its bold orange presentation and plenty of polish on the air grabber and valve covers. While the fenders say 396, it's actually running a LARGER 454 cubic-inch motor. The consignor states that this was built by a speed shop a few years back, and the way it runs string today reaffirms the idea that there have been investments in quality. Everything you want, including a four-barrel carburetor, large aluminum radiator, and a nicely tuned dual exhaust. This Caprice lives up to its easy cruising nature with features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and wide BF Goodrich T/As.
Here's a very cool classic with a strong big block that's ready to hit the road. So if you love history, distinction, and power, don't miss this hardtop. Call now!
