1968 Chevrolet C-10 Additional Info:
I am selling my alloriginal 1968 Chevy K10 short bed. This truck came out of the estate of the original owner in South Pasadena, Ca. He purchased it June 30, 1968 from Colliau Chevrolet in SouthPasadena. I have all the originalpaperwork including the protect-o-plate, build sheets, tool kit and more.
The paint is all factory original except or the grill and frontbumper, which gave been resprayed. No rust ever...ZERO.
The drivetrain is factory original and untouched.
Ipurchased it from the person who bought it from the estate, I am thethird owner. The previous owner changed the wheels and tires, carb, put on a new exhaust, andrebuilt the brakes. I have the original smog pump which was removed as well as two of the original black rims. The seat belts were replaced, but Ihave the originals. The correctmirrorsare white and I havethe ones that came off this truck. The spare under the truck has the original factory tire. Ibelieve the shocks are even original, same with most hoses.
There are some variations in the shade of paint between the cab, doors, and bed but from what I've been told, and my own knowledge, this is howthey came form the factory as they were sprayed at different times. Again, this is an original paint truck I just want to be transparent in my description. There are various scratches, the paint is thin in spots, and road rashwhere itshould be. As far as dents thepassenger side isnear flawless. The driver side has an impression on the frontfender lip. Driver side bed has a crease in front of the wheelwell that runs into the fender lip. There were two creases behind the rear wheel well that I had removed, but ifyou look you can still tell. Itried tocapture in the pictures the best I could.
Theinterior is simply fantastic. No alterations have been made and when youstep inside you are truly taking a step back in time. Ibelieve the seat is original as well, with thebuild sheet still in the back side.
There was camper shell on it from new which preserved the bed. The shellrubbed on the exterior cab and removed some paint. There wasaccess to theshell from the cab and the original owner had athick padding around the window trim. This is gone but you can clearly seewhere the screws were used.
This truckdrives like it came out of the showroom. There is asteering wobble at about 35 mph but should be aneasy fix. From what I can tell all the tie rod ends and steeringcomponents are factory original. The truckstartsright up but does smokeinitially if it hasn't been run in a while. I've replacedthe fuel pump and that is all.
All in all this is a very rare California black plate truck with the provenance to back it up. Only 1449 short bedfleetside 4x4 trucks were built in 1968. Of those very few had the 327and 4 speed. Factor in that it sold new and has remained in Southern California, andstill has the factory applied paint and it becomes clear this is one of the very last of it's kind.
