1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 X33 Additional Info:

MESSAGE ME FOR MORE PICS AND ANY INFO. I have a bunch of pics of different stages. Thank You.

This is my 1969 Camaro Z/28 Deluxe built in Norwood Ohio. I am the 4th and 6th owner and friends with the 2nd, 3rd and 5th. I got the car back in 2000 and started restoring it. It was improperly stored and the bottom was shot but the interior metal was solid. I used full stamping for 99% of the repairs. THERE IS NO RUST on this shell. Anything damaged was replaced with new full stamping.

It's a X33 Z/28 (Deluxe) car cortez silver with black deluxe interior. This is not a clone. The original color/rally stripes can be seen during paint stripping on the decklid and spoiler in some of the photos (still visible on the decklid edge) . Original options included deluxe black interio, a 4-speed manual, 3:73 rear gear ratio 12 bolt posi, front disc brakes, standard hood (no firewall opening for cowl wiring), rosewood wheel and dash accents, center console w/gauges.

That being said, please read below to see what is included. This is a solid shell with original parts but isn't complete.

Current Progress:

I stopped at the point I needed a lift or rotisserie to finish the bottom (clean up welds, paint it).

  • Frame rails are partially welded. pre drilled for plug welding and coated with weld thru primer.
  • Rear quarters need some spot welds to wrap them up.
  • Boxed rockers need little work on the ends, I initially set the outer about half inch to far forward.

Solid starting point for a original Z/28.

Payment: Cash, wire transfer, USPS money order or certified check from a known bank (prefer Chase).

Shipping: I'll assist in any way I can. I have enough room on the property to get about any truck or truck/trailer in. Back wheels are installed and should be easy to get on a trailer or flat bed.

New Metal: (have receipts for most items)

  • Inner & Outer full rockers
  • Full floor stamping. PPG 2K epoxy over the top then painted to resemble original primer
  • Full upper cowl (complete with inner tray, not the partial unit). Upper painted in correct gloss black ( PPG BC/CC), lower firewall in correct matte black with a feathered/overspray to duplicate painting in the factory.
  • Full inner & outer cowl (teardrops) (Gloss 2K primer inside to protect from rain).
  • Upper dash lip
  • Full trunk stamping
  • Seat mounts
  • Inner & outer wheel wells (inner US stamping)
  • Full frame rails. Pre-drilled for welding. Inside painted with PPG 2K epoxy and top rails have weld tru primer.
  • Left trunk extension
  • Lower tail pan
  • Left & right door skins. Shell's stripped, PPG 2K primer. Internal surfaces coated with rubberized undercoating
  • Left & right quarter panels. Installed while sitting on suspension (under load). All internal areas (hidden behind quarter panels) cleaned, painted PPG 2K Epoxy then over-coated with rubberized undercoating.

Original Steel:

  • Cowl induction hood. This is factory GM but not original to the car. Hood in good shape. Never had rust but had a few dings from storage
  • Deck lid. about 85% ok. Could be reused but back lip has to be rebuilt and spoiler holes need repair.
  • Left & right fender. Usable but both need work. Left headlight area was hit at some point. I was able to metal work it back in shape but it's rough. Both have some additional work to get the ready for paint.
  • Front filler panel between fenders. stripped then 2K PPG epoxy
  • Radiator mount. Stripped, shot with 2K PPG then correct black. Some pitted metal around the mounting holes.
  • Left & right front wheel wells. Stripped, 2K PPG then correct black. there is minor damage around the battery tray but not enough to toss the original metal.
  • Hood release. Stripped, 2K PPG then Eastwood Iron Oxide paint to duplicate original finish
  • Hood release mounting. Stripped then 2K PPG
  • Hood hinges. Stripped, 2K PPG then Eastwood Iron Oxide paint to duplicate original finish.
  • Fender braces. Stripped, 2K PPG.
  • Front wheel well braces. Stripped, 2K PPG.
  • Lower valance. Stripped. The license plate area had some hidden dents I removed

What's Not there?

if it's not listed above it's probably not there unless you see it in one of the photos. The 302 wasn't in the car when I got it. Some items were lost over time between owners like the badges and center console gauges. When I got it back in 2001 there was no engine or trans. The rally wheels had been stolen. Some things were just broken like the front grill and the dash (radio cut out). Some items I sold to fund the project like old brake and suspension parts. I had initially planned to do custom interior so I sold the door panels, center console and most regrettably the Rosewood steering wheel.
