Remember the bedtime story of “Jack and the Beanstalk” your Mama told you as a kid? How Jack went to town to peddle the family cow and returned with a handful of “magic beans” instead of cash? We’ve been in the collector car business for the better part of two decades and over the years I’ve trained a select number of folks to go out and “birddog” fun, unique vehicles for me. This truck still belongs to the original owner and has actual miles. He and I use the same landscape company and it came to my attention when our gardener described the truck and its elderly owner to me a few weeks ago. I offered to post it here on Ebay in order to find the next caretaker. You’re welcome to contact me at (206) 914-1173 with questions or to make an offer. My name is Mark.
Take a good look at my photos. It’s very obvious the attentiveness and care taken by that single owner has really paid off! With just a casual glance you might think this is just another ol’ truck. But, just like I did, look a little closer and you’ll realize what a find this thing really is! The first hint is when you check for rust in the usual spots. For those not familiar with the Pacific Northwest, specifically Western Washington, we get our share of misty rain, but hardly ever any snow. At the first sign of a falling flake everyone panics and stays home. School is cancelled and business grinds to a halt from “sick” workers calling in. Truth is, our winter roads are rarely salted, so you’ll see very few vehicles here with any serious rust problems. Climb over, under and around this rig - I know you’ll come up smiling as there are NO body corrosion issues(all loose body moldings have since been re-secured). Though I don't claim to be an expert, I'm pretty sure what you see pictured is all factory paint. There is no evidence of overspray on any rubber parts or tell-tale bondo swirls beneath. The aftermarket running boards, besides making getting in/out easier, also help protect from rock chips and mud being slung up by the front wheels.
This rig still has an original, clean, great-running 6.2 Liter Diesel engine. The second you fire it up, you’ll know it was built to last! I love the deep burble this strong motor makes. The automatic transmission is very strong with the data plate showing there are 3.73 gears in the rear pumpkin. The VIN code denotes the truck was built in the Janesville, Wisconsin plant and was completed in March 1983. It has been a local rig since new! There is no special-order information shown, so it most likely entered regular dealer stock inventory and was sold in the late spring of that year.
Up in the cab you’ll find full factory instrumentation on the dash including oil-water-amp gauges as was standard on the top-of-the-line Silverado package back in the ‘80’s. Look at the pics of the bench seat. It’s in great shape on both the base and backrest. The Silverado upgrade also included factory carpet and lots of interior chrome trim. While the Delco AM/FM Cassette radio still works great, the A/C will need some attention (likely just a recharge) to be functional. The heater motor does blow warm or cold vent air. The truck has electrically switched dual fuel tanks operated next to the radio.Unlike most vintage square-body GM pickups, there are no cracks in the original dash. About the only flaw I can point to is saggy headliner material, but that’s easily remedied with a stapler or some spray adhesive.
All four wheels are straight and true. Each is wrapped with Kelly “Safari” LT 235/85R16 truck tires having at least 75 percent remaining tread all around. Outside I know you’ll also be impressed by the classic factory two tone original paint. All the glass is great, with NO cracks or pitting.
As outline above, please feel free to email or contact me with any questions. My name is MARKand my direct number is 206/914-1173. You’re welcome to inspect & drive the truck. You might also make an offer before the end of the auction, as many of my vehicles sell to smart “early birds” that call and work out a deal prior to the auction’s end. I always reserve the right to sell during this period.
A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:
The entire purchase price is due by cash (in-person only), a wire transfer or other certified funds within seven days of the auction closing. I can accept credit/debit cards but will need to first send an invoice from our card processor and ask that the 3.25% fee charged by them be added. Please remember you are bidding to buy, and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.
If you do decide to have thetruckshipped home, there are numerous vehicle transportcompanies to choose from. While delivery of the truck and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER, I ship vehicles regularly and I have access to the nationwide Central Dispatch system. I can check to see what typical delivery costs have been to your area recently and then post a transport offer for the truck at a fair price. We usually then have a shipper lined up within a few days. The buyer pays the transporter COD when they arrive with the vehicle. No upfront deposit or other hassles.
