1969 Chevrolet Corvair Additional Info:
1969 Chevrolet Corvair Monza. There were 6000 total Corvairs built in 1969. 2717 were Monza coupes. This particular Corvair was near the final production run. It is number 5769. There were only 231 Corvairs built after this one. I was told this car was built in May of 1969.the last Corvair was built on May 14, 1969. The info I found about the Corvair name is that it came about by breeding the Corvette and Bel Air together, two trademark names of Chevrolet.I purchased the car several years ago and have been restoring her ever since. There are too many new parts to list but here are a few:Most new wiring harnesses except main harness. Dash cluster refurbished. Rebuilt clock purchased on ebay. Door locks. hood lock. New carpet. reupholstered rear seats. Added after market front seats with center console. I have the original front seats that need redone. All new light bulbs, shifter knob with chrome base. New window felt and weatherstripping. Driver door mirror. Package tray. Sunvisors. The carbs were rebuilt, fuel lines under hood replaced. New fuel pump, coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, voltage regulator changed. Recent oil change. heater hose. oval hose heater fan. the engine was repaired by a Corvair specialist. New engine gasket set. Also replaced..2 strut rod bushings, tranny gasket, axle gasket set, axle and transmission oil, brake hoses, wheel cylinders, master cylinder.New fuel tank and new sending unit.It has the original engine but we had to change the out the three speed transaxle. It has the 110hp engine.I have just recently started to drive the car. It is fun and safe to drive. The chrome is nice. The car needs a headliner. the one in it has a tear..see photo. The paint job on the car is a 20 footer. It looks good going down the road. It needs a quality paint job. There are small dings and scratches and some minor body work needing finished. The front of the front fenders were rusty soi had a body shop cut them out and replace them from a doner car. needs some finish work.the tires seem good but if I were to keep the car I would probably put on some 14" rims and tires for a better look. Not sure of actual mileage. If you have any questions please contact me. Bruce
It is a fun and unusual car. There are not many 1969 Corvairs.
Thanks for looking.
