This 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer a rare original paint example born and built right here in Fremont California. It spent its entire life in Northern California. We procured this truck from a Northern California Corrections officer. He retired to Idaho and decided to sell the truck. Walking around the exterior of this truck is a rare sight as you never see original paint truck with no rust. Weathered patina is real and not fabricated! Body was wet sanded and waxed not clear coated as some might think. Trailer mirrors and step up rings we left on but can easily be removed . Small details that are often over looks, but the original square parking lamps haven't been swapped for the newer dual rectangle. Original front grill looks great. The new front and rear bumper had enough shiny chrome to compliment the patina. The hard top is in exceptional shape with no cracks, chips or holes. The most important part about the top is all of the original hardware is intact and functions.
When we purchased it didn't have carpet so we had the opportunity to see the spectacular rust free floors. He put new foam in all the seats and recovered them in new houndstooth, which looks spectacular. The plastic seat backs are also in excellent shape. We installed the the correct carpet. Period correct roll bar serves as a great function for topless driving and also the installation of a bikini top. AC cab and the AC blow cold.
Looking at the engine bay - Do you see that original chalk writing on the firewall; ahhh ever so desirable for us purist. Power brakes and power steering. 350 motor with 350 trans and she fires right up every time and drives great. The undercarriage looks as original as original as the exterior. At some point in its life the axles were converted to 3/4 ton axles which was a super desirable period correct conversion on these trucks. The axles have the rare 16.5 wheels wrapped in brand new BFG's. It also rides on a small leaf spring lift which is easily converted or would look great with your own personal taste aftermarket wheels wrapped in 33's or 35's.
I know what your thinking they are crazy asking that kind of money for a patina truck.... I ask you this the value in this truck is that original paint no rust. where can you find another one? Some will say I can buy a nice cosmetic restored truck for that kind of money; the question is what is under that pretty paint? Bondo? Others will say I can buy a project truck for half that price. What will metal work cost you? Where can you find a hard top like that with all the hardware?
This truck is a spectacular survivor example - No rust, patch panels or body filler hidden behind shiny paint. This Blazer is the perfect candidate for a restoration or drive and enjoy the way it sits.
