1957 Chevrolet Other Pickups Additional Info:
Resplendent in a starburst of bright orange paint, this is a fresh 1957 Chevrolet Pickup that is far from farm duty. Indeed, this professional rotisserie nut-and-bolt execution by renowned Rod builder Steven Pope will satisfy your desire whether you like style or power, because both abound here. Faintly noted on the leading edge of the hood is a callout emblem stating 496. However, there will be no mistaking the sound coming from under this bonnet. Dyno tested at 782 HP, the 496 CI professionally built Merlin V-8 engine is topped with an 8-71 Weiand blower and dual Holley 4-barrel carburetors. Body-color Chevrolet valve covers, polished accessories and a smoothed firewall make the engine bay into a showcase, and the supercharger cleanly fits beneath the factory hood. Side exhaust trumpets are visible ahead of the rear wheel housings. Behind the engine is a freshened Turbo 400 automatic transmission with shift kit and a stoutly-designed 9-inch Ford rear end. Careful selection of parts resulted in a Pro-Touring level of undercarriage pieces, including a Camaro front suspension, 4-link and coilover shocks, power steering and disc brakes. A new fuel cell was relocated under the show-finished bed area, and the chromework is modest and very complementary to the color selection. Blended inside are excellent functional details, such as the polished tilt steering column, a custom gauge cluster in the smoothed dash, a Fesler steering wheel and power windows. Upholstery consists of custom Glide Engineering dark saddle-tone leather seating with matching dark saddle kick panels and headliner. Modern appointments include an ID touch keyless ignition and a security system with remote start. To complete the look, a set of 20-inch 5-spoke Coys wheels with narrow-profile tires seal the appearance. In 1957, these were America's pickups, aptly associated with the legendary passenger-car line of that year.
