For sale here I have a survivor 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible that was owned by the previous owner for more than 54 years. He loved to show and parade the car and used it quite a bit as the car has somewhere in the neighborhood of 200k miles on it. The car has a clear and current Ks title that matches the serial number plate on the DS A pillar. The car was bought new in late 1952 at Shankenberger Chevrolet in Emporia, Kansas and it had 3 owners between Late 52 and March of 1964 when the gentleman I purchased it from bought it. The original Shankenberger trunk script is mounted to a pice of wood in the glove box. He used to show, parade and drive the car on family vacations. Sometimes while pulling an old Scotty camper behind it. He had aftermarket cruise control and an AM/FM radio mounted under the dash. In his older years he moved to a retirement village and would drive the elderly ladies around in the car. When his health got to poor to drive the car anymore it was put in storage for 4 years before we bought it. All of the documentation that I got with the car will come with it. When we bought it we filed the points, put in fresh fluids, a battery and drove it onto our trailer. Since then we have done a lot of maintenance and detailing but thecar does still need the new tires of your choice. The car runs, drives and stops as it should but we've only taken it up to 40 MPH in town and have never cruised it down the highway.Theengine doesn't smoke or make any weird noises and the transmission shifts well. The carburetor could probably use a rebuild. All of the exterior lights and power top work properly. The previous owner maintained the car quite well having the transmission rebuilt, 12 volt conversion and multiple tops over the years. I don't have any documentation showing an engine rebuild but i would imagine that it has been rebuilt. He had interior and paint redone in the late 70s to early 80s. The car was originally brown but was repainted an incorrect shade when redone. There was some filler used in the rockers and quarters due to rust from him using it as a winter car until 1975. The floors and trunk are in amazing condition for a convertible of this age. The spare tire well is perfect. The doors are in good condition as well. They open and close nicely without dropping. There's bumps and bruises all around on the body of this well used classic. There's some pitting on the chrome parts and the bumpers have some dents and bends and could use replacement. The stainless down the side of the car all has dings in it but the windshield and convertible stainless is in nice shape. The seats in the car are covered nicely but some of the interior trim and door panels could use repair. The speedometer, dash lights, under dash lights and aftermarket AM/FM radio work. The odometer, gas gauge, clock and am radio don't work. The speedometer and original radio lenses are cracked. We added transmission fluid to The power top pump and it works flawlessly. The PS cylinder leaks as the previous owner had newspaper balled up under it and oil dry under the rear seat and carpet on that side. The white top is soft and has no holes or rips. There is some light staining on the top above the doors and around the rear window. The plastic rear window has some light scuffs and scratches but it's still soft. The top boot is clean and soft with no issues. All of the windows roll up and down nicely. There are some missing and weathered weatherstrips. The windshield has a crack on the PS, the PS quarter glass is cracked and the DS wing window has a chip in it. The hood springs are worn and don't hold the it open completely. The stocks horns on the car are extremely loud. There's a musical horn on the car but I haven't messed with seeing if it works. The engine has an add on external oil filter and the radiator doesn't seem to leak. The engine and transmission definitely leak some fluid but not bad. The front suspension is caked in grease and oil. The cars from is solid and excellent from front to back. The car didn't come with trunk keys when I bought it so I had two made. The trunk lock cylinder is back on the car but the trunk striker plate needs adjustment and possibly replacement as its cracked and broken. The trunk latch mechanism works with the key I just can't get it to latch down so it is bungee strapped down in all of the photos.
