Elkhart Green over Black Factory Upgraded (called “Custom”) Interior

Numbers matching. One of 1,638 LT-1s built for 1972, fewer than 6,000 total built across the three year product cycle. The LT-1 was the ultimate small block configuration, which cost as much to upgrade to as the 454 big block package, and included a solid lifter version of the iconic 350 motor with a 6,500 RPM redlined tach, in 4 speed only, larger exhaust, with all the suspension and brake upgrades that came with a 454 car, and a big block hood with unique striping and call-outs. Given the expense, the LT-1 represented only 15% of all Corvettes built that year. 1972 was the final year for the C3 steel front and rear bumpers, as well as the last year for the C3 LT-1. 1972 was also the only year where the LT-1 option was included in the VIN number, making package verification as built easy.

Represented in factory-specified Elkhart Green (6.5 % of total 1972 Corvette production, so potentially one of only 106 LT-1s built in this color) over a Black Upgraded or “Custom” interior, this car was purchased by the current owner in 2007 with no prior receipts and has been treated to an open check book approach to maintenance as well as a sympathetic restoration.

Receipts for services and expenses over the past decade of ownership total over $39,000 and include:

April 2018: Full PPI, tune-up and service including new battery, belts, hoses, spark plugs, etc. New water pump, new fuel pump, new valve cover gaskets, fluids, chassis lubrication, KYB shocks and an upgrade to a Petronix digital points replacement kit, $2,200. January 2015: All 4 OEM brake calipers replaced, new master cylinder replaced, new hood latch, fluids and lubrication, $2,000.57 April 2013: Power steering gearbox replaced, rear strut arm replaced, exhaust manifold gaskets replaced, transmission mount replaced, wheel trim replacement, tune-up, fluids and lubrication, $3,239.93 March 2013: Full re-paint in factory Elkhart green w/ bumper re-chroming, $12,000 August 2010: Re-jet carb and curve kit, tune-up, $530.32 August 2009: Radiator replacement and thermostat replacement, gaskets and hoses, $1,266.73 July 2009: Front caliper replacement, master cylinder replacement, new battery, replace motor mounts, tune-up, fluids and filters and lubrication, $1,874.48 December 2007: valve cover gaskets, brake pads front and rear, front bearings, front suspension overhaul, e-brake repair, rear brake caliper replacement, carb replacement, Mangnaflow muffler replacement (pair), new horn, new clock, new rear view mirror, install new interior parts from Eckler’s, $8,374.32 December 2007: Roughly $4,000 in Eckler’s interior and trim pieces for restoration and refresh (all receipts come with car, details within), installed as part of December 2007 service above December 2007: 2 new seat backs added, both front grilles replaced, $1,272.93

This high performance Corvette LT-1 is spectacular, with the only significant deviation from stock being a replacement aftermarket center console to house an DIN-sized Alpine Bluetooth-enabled stereo with speakers added to the front kicker panels in addition to the factory dash units. The original uncut OEM center console and factory radio will be included with the vehicle for those who prefer a fully original look.
