1966 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN CUSTOM/CLASSIC BUILT
After looking at the poor offerings of mid-60’s Suburban’s here on eBay I decided to list for sale my absolutely exquisite 1966 Chevrolet Suburban. This truck can be your special occasion truck or your daily driver, it is built to be a brand new 1966 Suburban.
This classic grocery getter, 1966 Chevrolet Suburban was built by Dave’s Garage Custom Car Shop in Simi Valley, California. Simple put it was completely disassembled down to the last nut and bolt, every single piece was worked, upgraded, and made better than original, any and all rust was removed and panels either made or replaced to make the body ready for paint.
The body was removed from the chassis, the chassis was then sandblasted, cleaned-up and whatever new add ons where added, then it was powder painted in satin black and reassembled. The new Chevy small block was put in along with a 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission. Power steering, power front disc brakes, new control arms, new bushings, ball joints, shocks, rear control arms, the brake system was completely gone through. Custom body mounts where made to reinstall the body back to the frame to ensure a smooth and quite ride.
Once the body was reattached the truck went to paint and body where it spent quite a while getting the final body work was done and block sanded until all these huge flat panels where flat. Then many coats of DuPont PS2 Silver and many, many more coats of DuPont clear to give it that deep luster both inside and out, plus all the inner and outer trim pieces painted to match.
Then came the detailed reassembly, The original bumpers where sent out, straightened and triple chromed, The original aluminum grill was nearly perfect so it was made perfect then polished and cleared to maintain the original look and sheen. We located original front bucket seats and a original half seat from the back, we prepped and painted them to match then the upholstery started. The upholstery was done by Eric Thorson Designs in Westlake California from the classic Euro carpet to the custom headliner all done in matched tones to make the interior outstanding, rear side panels where made to match the rear doors and the side doors along with about 13 boxes of sound deadening to make the interior whisper quite. All the rubber, seals and consumable parts where replaced with new and the truck was painstakingly assembled. We added a period correct looking stereo (so we wouldn’t have to cut the dash) that has iPod and USB inputs, Vintage Air, air conditioning system was installed and the original instrument cluster was customized with a factory appearing tachometer and vacuum gauge, upgraded steering column and anything else you can think of was done. Denali chrome 17” wheels with Michelin tires and custom wheel spacers to sit the tires right in the wheel wells. Period correct California black license plates included, currently registered and insured and California title in hand.
Less than 1000 miles on the Suburban since finished.
All in all we have put over $100,000.00 into building this truck since I really never planned to sell it I spared no expense in building the nicest 1966 Suburban out there.
Look at the pictures, ask any questions you may have, I think the quality shows through.
