It's hard to go wrong with a mid-60s GM convertible. This Impala was built and delivered as an SS 327 in 1965 and stays true to those roots today. Its top down fun at its best. Big enough to pile in friends and family to head into town on a nice summer night, or head out on a cross country adventure with. As you approach this car from the side, you can't help but notice the long sleek lines of... this full-sized convertible. Coated in Evening Orchid paint, the impression is especially dramatic when the top is down. There is very little chrome disturbing the look. A single, straight body line runs from front to rear, interrupted only by one big door, which reinforces the effect. Behind the door, the body bulges up a bit adding a nice shape to those long rear fenders. The front leads with some nice chrome with the bumper, eggcrate grill, and trim around the four headlights. 327 and Super Sport badging adorns the front fenders. Fender wells are nicely sculpted and present a super clean look without hanging unnecessary wheel well molding on it. The rear is also neat and clean with a black and chrome bar running the full width that contains Chevrolet and Impala SS script. Above that bar is the one year only, triple round taillights that look so good, and below it, another nice chrome bumper. Jump in this car and you will find a spacious, comfortable interior. The door panel has a big, comfortable arm rest with the easiest door handle to use that you will ever experience. It looks good too with a pleated upper panel split by a sharp looking SS emblem. Contoured bucket seats mimic the pleating, are trimmed in chrome, and are a comfortable place to do some cruising in. The back seats are sweet too, so go ahead, load up some friends and have some fun! The trunk is huge, so you can toss anything you might need for a trip in there without having to worry about packing it carefully. A two spoke Impala wheel sits in front of an expansive dash with wide speedometer in the center, critical engine gauges in a pod to the left, and uniquely, a vacuum gauge in a pod on the right. The center console has a nice big rally style clock just in front of the T-handle shifter for the 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission. It's nice to have the power of a 327 under the hood when it's time to scoot on down the road. It's not only a strong engine and gets this big ragtop rolling with power to power to spare, but it's also a tried and true Chevy V8, so it gets the job done reliably too. It sits in a neat and clean engine bay and is completely stock except for the addition of an Edelbrock carburetor. Signs of good maintenance are evident with new tune-up items like plugs, cap and wires, as well as newer belts and hoses. The automatic trans sends the power back to a solid axle on coil springs that provide a nice comfortable ride. Up front, control arms and coil springs along with power steering and brakes make this luxury cruise easy to maneuver in parking lots or on the open road. 215/70R14 tires are mounted on steel wheels with Spinner wheel covers, and really complete the look of the car nicely.
