There probably isn't a more all-around capable and useful truck than a Chevy Suburban. This one is a good looking, comfortable, 3/4-ton example which has the strength get the job done and handle that heavy load without breaking a sweat.
A nice two tone blue paint job really looks good on this truck. Make no mistake about it, this is a big vehicle, but it wears it with style. The egg crate grill and bumper up front look like any other Suburban, but they sit up a little higher because of the heavy-duty suspension. Looking down the side, you have the dark blue center dividing the lighter blue of the top and bottom. Running boards along the rockers help to keep gravel and road salt off the body, and give a place to step a foot while getting in or out. There are 4 big doors so you can easily load up with people, or easily access the front of the cargo you have loaded into the back. Van style doors at the rear don't get in the way of the trailer hitch, making it easy to hook or unhook a trailer, or load the back of the truck with a trailer already on.
The interior is classic Suburban. Open the door and there is a convenient pocket to stash things in right away, and a grab handle to offer an assist up and in. Comfortable high back buckets have a foldable armrest so that you can access the big center console easily, or fold it down, hit the Sony sound system, and relax for the long haul. The tilt steering wheel with column mounted shifter is easy to adjust for the right position, and critical engine gauges are clearly visible so you can keep good tabs on them. The 4-WD system is old school and reliable, controlled by a lever on the floor in front of the console. No need to worry about electrical switches or relays going bad. Back seat passengers enjoy a roomy, comfortable ride too, or of course, you can fold the back seats down for an enclosed, lockable, cargo space almost as big as a van.
Pop the hood and you will find the tried and true Chevy 350 V8 that has good power, good torque, and provides it reliably. There are signs of regular maintenance with a newer alternator, hoses, and belts and condenser. It sends the power back through a three-speed automatic transmission, but there is nice feature added to it with the Gear Vendors Underdrive/Overdrive unit. You may have noticed the switch mounted under the dash. It controls an additional gear that drops the engine rpm when rolling down the highway under light loads, offering better gas mileage. Of-course this is a 4-WD Suburban, so it isn't easily intimidated by snow, and it can certainly come in handy hauling a boat out of the water, or a trailer through a muddy field. 8 lug alloy wheels remind you that this is a heavy-duty truck, with heavy duty axles and brakes. LT265/75R16 tires are where the rubber meets the road. Or dirt. Or boat ramp.
Good looking, well maintained, versatile heavy-duty truck. You can buy this one and save enough money to also get a toy to pull behind it.
