Fresh off its custom build, this 1950 Chevrolet 3100 takes the smooth lines of GM's Advance Design pickup and gives it a hardy dose of modern sleekness. The result is a truck that more than just irresistible to show off, because the V8 and upgraded suspension make it irresistible to drive, too.Funny how the vintage designs wear contemporary colors so well. This 3100 stays true to its roots, but borrows a much more modern shade of Chevy's Cobalt Blue. There was a nice investment in the paint, so that when you take this one out in the sunlight, the shine over all the curves makes a nice rival for the chrome. Speaking of brightwork, the tall truck has a huge silver streak, with pieces like its wraparound bumpers, and legendary five-bar grille that stand out like a pristine art deco skyscraper. If you're wondering why everything so amazing, it's because there was plenty invested in the details of this build, including body panels, door latches, floors, lenses, etc. (we'll be happy to go over the full list when you give us a call.) The better-than-new classic appearance even extends to the wood truck bed, where the lumber and chrome have been rehabbed to make this blue collar hero look like it never saw a day of work. All of this combines to give the impression of a custom hot rod, and the clincher for this comes from the 17-inch iconic American Racing Torq Thrust wheels.Inside there's even more great custom work. The door panels and dash borrow the blue and chrome theme and coordinate it for a great first impression. Just like the exterior paint, the seats are a more modern Chevy product, too - borrowing the front seat from a younger Silverado. The comfortable cloth bench gives you the option of seating three across, or you can fold down the large armrest for individual luxury. The driver gets a more modern Chevy truck steering wheel, and beyond that are a set of Classic Instruments gauges that offer a similar pattern to the originals, but are much clearer and cleaner. The standard Thriftmaster six-cylinder engine that came with this Chevy 3100 would never do in a truck this cool. Instead, it was upgraded to iconic small block power with a 350 cubic-inch V8. It looks great with tidy wires, newer hoses, and polished Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner. But more than just a great appearance, this V8 inhales deeply through a classic Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with authority through headers that connect to the dual exhaust. Just to make sure you can handle whatever traffic is on the way to the car show, there's an aluminum radiator and electric fan to keep everything cool. But this is much more than just a unique pickup to show off on the custom car scene. There's a lot of comfort in this truck, including a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and power steering. The upgrade to an independent front suspension makes for a vastly better ride, and it even allows for front disc brakes. Plus, the rear end was borrowed from a '70s Nova and has a highway-friendly 2.73 ratio. Add in the modern grip of Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires at all four corners, and this truck easily works as an all-day cruiser or daily driver! This vintage Chevy neatly captures everything that was great about the original design, and it adds great upgrades without having to leave the GM family. It has the kind of appeal that makes it fun to cruise everywhere from the local burger joint, to a car show many states away. Call now!!!
