Car History is as follows: A soild western car here in Grand Junction for many years with one family. The car has been in dry storage for many years, since the80's. Driven only on special occasions and sunny days for years. The 265 V8 engine runs strong and smooth & quiet. This 55 was part of a father & son matching car collection. The son had a 55 2 door sedan and dad had the 55 original coupe. Very truthful info on the cars from all that we have been told. The father has now passed away and this is the reason for sale. (Note: the sons 55 sedan was just sold here on ebay). The mom even drove a 1964 Chevrolet Impala hardtop that has been sold also. The Cars were always serviced and always stored inside for the last 30-40 years. Some paper work on old plates and registrations and the titles are from backin theearly 1980's.
More History: This car is100% original from all that we have seen and were told. There was one overall re-paint in the early 80.sThe main body panelsare all original to the car except a repair to the passenger side quarter panel from way back in the late 60's. Very solid clean car overall with no rust outs found anywhere, with only one spot the size of a silver dollar in the driverside lower inner trunk hidden area where a puddle of water sat at one time. The re-paint is older & some cracking on the upper rear deck lid and behind the rear window flat area with paint checking. This all could easily be repainted and "blended in" with the India ivory white color.
All Glass: Glass is EZE-EYE original LOF very good shape, front windshieldis also still the original with just a few small rock chips over the years with no stars. All windows operate up and down nice and doors, trunk, allclose and open tight. Window Fuzzies are still good no rattles while driving.
Mechanics: The 53,300 mile seem to be the original mileage as stated y old owners for many years. The cars overall condition seem to verify this but we have no documents. The car runs quie, smooth, engine idles smooth, transmission shifts out great and has no known issues.
Interior: The Interior of the car is all Factory Original with all seats, side panels, dash, and interior component's all appearing original, with very minimal to no wear. Entry welting and cardboard are in great shape for the age as a true survivor with minor scuffs. Note, Headliner has one small snag by rear dome light, drivers side, 2-3 inches.
The Trunk area: is all original with a original spare tire, bias ply wide whitewall 6.50 x 15 original U.S. Royal Tire, Original jack and rubber trunk mat. The main trunk floorsare all rust free with just some small surface stuff, all just cosmetic. 100% solid car with no rustouts (except the silver dollar size) hidden trunk lower drivers-side rear lower shelf. The entire underside, floors, braces, frame, areall solid and original. (see pictures!)
Overall Options & Conditions: ULTRA RARE GM Factory AM "WonderBar" Original Radio with speaker, it seeks still when warmed up, and plays, dash clock is there, does not work at times, heater works, vents work, defrost works, odometer and speedo allwork, gas gauge works, heat guage works, blinkers work at dash and exterior, parking lights work, brake light works, high beams work with red dash indicator, dash lights and main light switch dimmer knob work, heater fan works on all settings, emergency brake good, Main brakingare drum brakes, brakes good, trunk lock works good, ignition switch works good, tight, glove box lock & light good with nice inner cardboard box original, Door dome lights work, Main front and rear seats are strong still firm and comfortable nice original cushions.
Overall Chrome & Brightwork: Chrome work is very nice, still intop driver quality. The stainless trim is also in great shape with just a few imperfections. The Bumpers are straight and as are the bumper Guards. Everything is there and can all be show quality if desired in further restoration.Pot metal is all very good no bad pitting. Hubcaps are good driver quality.
The Paint: The Paintrates at a6.5 -7.1 out of 10, due to age and old application with several very small defects, sanding errors, overallfor any type of show standards. Paint looks better just due to the great original Body panelsthat are very straightoverall and rate 8.9 - 9.3 for great lines. The worst area isthe rear fit of trunk lid to body panel sides. The top of trunk lid has 4-5 small spots needing paint repair touch up.
Overall Conclusion:This Original '55 Belairis a fantastic, original survivor, daily driver, ready to go and have fun with right now. The car speaks for itself and is "as stated" here. All very small items noted are easy fixes and are the new owners responsibility to fix, or restore, and or have repaired. Everything stated is everything we know of and are up front and honest in this overall report and condition. If something was overlooked, the vehicle is being sold in: "as-is" condition.
