1991 Chevrolet Corvette Additional Info:

I purchased this car a while back to pull the engine and place in another project car. However after driving the car, it was exhilarating to say the least, so I decided to keep it and continue the project. Now the wife has put her foot down and is demanding a pool this summer so the project must go. Keep in mind this is a project car, but it runs like a scalded dog on steroids. I will detail what I believe it needs as well as what I know it has but I didn't build this car so I can't detail everything.
First it needs a paint job. The rear bumper cover is faded compared to the rest of the car and the hood has an aftermarket cowl that is in primer for clearance issues associated with the addition of the big block 454 conversion. The power locks don't work and the passenger side door window doesn't go up or down. My guess is it needs a power window motor and door lock acuators to get them operable again. The ac and heater core have been removed, I assume to make it easier to install the BBC however after measuring clearances I believe they can be reinstalled without much effort. Also comparing to other BBC converted C4s I see most still have their ac components. It does not have a radio installed. The interior shows wear but not in need of replacement yet. The top looks somewhat new except for the weatherstripping. I would replace the weatherstripping on the top itself. I believe the car is mid miles but I have no way to verify as it has autometer gages rather than the original cluster.
Now for what I know it has. Obviously it is a BBC 454 according to the casting number however it could be punched out to a larger cubic inch and or stroke which would explain it's street manners. It has aftermarket aluminum heads I believe are rectangle ports due to the intake casting number but I don't know if either or have been ported. I don't know the brand, compression, nor cfm of the heads either as I have not seen a company logo due to the location of the brackets and accessories on the front of the engine. It does have roller rockers as well but I don't know the ratio since I haven't pulled the valve covers, they are blue anodized aluminum and visible through the valve cover oil fill hole. It has a Meziere blue anodized aluminum electric water pump that flows quite strong but guessing 50-55gpm. It has a billet aluminum Mallory distributor. As mentioned earlier, the intake is a factory chevy aluminum intake from the late 60's to early 70's based on the casting number. From what I understand it was used on high hp cars above 400hp. It has mid length headers but I don't know the brand. It has a dana 44 rear end conversion as well though I don't know the gear ratio. The transmission is a 700r4 that the previous owner claimed was built but I have no way of knowing for sure. It feels to me like it has a shift kit rather than aftermarket built. There is much more to building a performance tranny so based on my experience driving many built cars over the years I believe it is just a shift kit of some sort.
I had decided to convert the car to fuel injection, replace the hood with a Toledo/ACI cowl, then paint and install new wheels and removable hardtop. That said the wife put her foot down for a pool and the dog house is occupied. Though this car runs and drives I would advise anyone to go through the car and treat as a project. It is fast and will get out from under you very quickly. Don't purchase it thinking it will be a daily driver as it has a long way to go before reaching that status. It is simply a fun project that most of the hard work has been done to and can be added to and tinkered with over time and your discretion. The engine alone is worth my reserve so have fun bidding....
