1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Additional Info:

Up for auctionAT NO RESERVEis my well documented 1979 4 speed Z28. No matter how much I type I will not do this car justice. It is stunning and drives like a dream! Often times we have a car that is just beautiful but drives just okay. Other times we have a car that drives great but needs a little in the looks department. When purchasing a classic getting both drivability and aesthetics is tough. With this Z28 you are getting bothform and function!

The Z28 was restored with functionality and fashion in mind. Everything (except the clock) works. I just returned from a weekend trip to Palm Springs, California in the car and it was an absolute blast and joy! There is nothing better than driving down the backroads of California in a 4-gear classic listening to the Eagles, Aerosmith and Bob Segar! 500 plus miles of pure cool! And the attention the car getsis unbelievable! It rivals the attention I get in my 70 LS5 Chevelle SS or 70 Boss 302 Mustang! 500 plus miles cruising at 70 MPH, averaging 16.5 MPG, using no oil and dislodging no vital organs! That’s hard to beat when driving a classic.

The Z28 was built in Van Nuys, California and sold new at Danial’s Motors in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From there the history is a little fuzzy with the car ending up in New Mexico at some point. In 2008 a friend of mine purchased the car in dry Las Cruces, New Mexico, brought it to California, put the finishing touches on an extensive restore and then enjoyed it sparingly (driving it less than 5000 miles) over the next 9 years.

In 2017 I that same friend purchased my 1978 4 speed TA. A couple of months later he decided the Z28 needed to go to make room for the Trans Am. Knowing the quality of the car and his attention to detail I knew it was a must have and purchased it.

Fast forward to today, it is now time for me to part with the car. After several trips to the beach, the previously mentioned trip to Palm Springs and many Sunday morning breakfast runs it is time for me to pass the car on and lighten my collection a bit. If you are in the market for a 1979 Camaro Z28 read on, this car is definitely one you should consider!

Showing just over 105,000 miles, this Z28 is perfect for those weekend drives, cruise night, Saturday coffee and Sunday breakfast. Unlike most muscle cars, you can jump in it, turn on the air, crank the tunes and enjoy a worry-free ride!

Factory Equipment - The Z28 will be sold with its original build sheetwhich outlines the following equipment:

Tinted glass, Power windows, Bucket seats, A/C, sport mirrors, console, stripes, performance suspension, 3:73 posi-traction rear end, 350-4bbl, 4 speed, tilt wheel,

Interior – Beautiful and new. The pictures tell the story on the interior. No tears, cracks or funky smells. One look at the interior and you can see the car has been cared for! There are a couple of minor scuff marks on the panels in the back seat but a little interior dye and those are a thing of the past.

Electronics and Accessories – With the exception of the clock, all electronics and accessories are operational. The Z28 is equipped with a great sounding AM/FM/CD that makes those weekend cruises all the more enjoyable! A/C blows cold – A must have in the California high desert!

Mechanical – The car runs, drives and sounds great and is as tight as can be! The 350 is strong and tight, transmission shifts like butter and brakes stop the car straight! With the exception of the rear-end gears, the Z28 is 100% stock mechanically right down to all the California legal emissions equipment (car passed California emisions testing two weeks ago). The factory 3:73 gears where replaced with a freeway friendly set of 3:54 gears. The stock gears will be included with the sale. The car does have one very minor oil drip – It will leave about a quarter sized spot of oil on the ground in about a week’s time. Tires are two weeks old and the factory wheels are pristine.

Paint/Body and Glass- The paint is very nice and the body is exceptionally straight. No signs of accidents or rust! All body lines are good and doors open and close nicely. Paint really shines and looks great but does have minor imperfections which includes a small area of cracking on the hood (only visible when the car is waxed) and a little scuff (touched up) on the corner of the rear bumper. The decals are all intact, with the exception of the “Z28” on the nose, but at some point should be replaced due to the edges lifting (I removed the nose decal because its edges were lifting). The good thing is the decals are available from numerous sources at around $260.00 dollars. Glass and weather stripping are all good.

If you are in search of a 1979 Camaro Z28 this is one to consider!
