This 3 door Suburban is really sweet and it's in pretty good and mostly original condition, especially for a 1972. It was born, raised and retired in California,California Assembly, Californiaprocessing, listed in glovebox upgrade sheetand this truck has just about every option that was desirable and available for these 3 door custom Deluxe C10 way back in 1972, which was 45 years ago. These Suburbans are one of the hottest selling classic vehicles and they are getting rarer and much harder to find according to the Hagertys index rating system, and these Suburbans are also expected to have a significant increase in the Hagerty index value rating in the future. This classic looks great, especially when it’s towing an old Wind Stream or similar trailer,It has front and rear A/C plus the original Chevrolet radio cassette player and cruise control as well as the two custom spot lights which are great for working, hunting or exploring at night, one of the pictures shows the lights on in the daylight, they are easy to swivel and control from the safety and warmth of the interior of the car. It also has the the heavy duty tow package with the trailer brakes and interior trailer brake controller. This custom Classic looks pretty nice and is a blast from the much simpler past, especially when it’s towing an old wind stream or similar year camper trailer behind it and it does run and drive pretty good and strong, it has a custom built and perfectly legal 454 Tonawanda engine that will never be tied down with smog gear or regulations. This car is a classic and it has the unique two doors on the passenger side, and only one door on the drivers side which makes this 3 door model pretty cool I think. It also has an excellent Allison automatic transmission that shifts and operates well. The seats are an upgrade and are two toned grey and black and it does have all three rows so you can transport 8 or more people if necessary plus it has plenty of cargo space with the lay level tailgate which can be nice for a tailgate party and it has allot of room plus it has the lift up back window with 2 hydraulic cylinders. The interior is in pretty decent condition for the year as you can see and it is the original exterior two tone white and yellow paint. It also has the original wheels from that year as well and the tires are in okay condition a bit dry with about 50% treads and it does have the spare tire in the cargo bin which you can see beneath the black matching carpet which is covering over it. It also has a light factory tint on the windows as well as front and rear shocks which wasn't always standard in those days and the complete custom deluxe body molding and door edge guards was optional as was its front and rear shock auxiliary springs and front stabilizer, it rides really well on the highway, It also has custom tilt steering and the deluxe wheel covers as well as all the available and complete gauges. Chevy vehicles helped pioneer the turbo hydra-metic power steering which this truck has. There's a bit of white paint splatter on the back of the last seat as you can see in the tailgate picture, it can likely be wiped off with paint thinner i'd suppose, but I didn’t have any at the time these pictures were taken which was today, Monday, 10-30-2017. The bottom of the back seats have wear and tear as you can see in these pictures, but i’m not asking 25 or 30 grand for it so there’s plenty of room for minor improvement and issues if you want it to make it show room quality and perfect it. The body and paint are in pretty good condition but not perfect and I haven't seen any significant body rust on it because it is a California desert area vehicle. This is a one of a kind and beautiful Custom Deluxe C10 Suburban and this truck has virtually every option that was available as I stated. The carpets and the Custom Deluxe door panels and the ceiling panels and air conditioning vents and controls are in great shape. The speakers and tweeters aren't too great, but the radio and cassette player does work, the A/C can use a recharge but it also works. It has the heater as well of course and probably a bunch of other stuff i’m leaving out. It is a registered, dependable and ready to go almost anywhere anytime truck that can be used as a reliable everyday commuter if needed. I hate to let it go, it is in my name and it does have a clean and clear California Title. I must sell it and i'm hoping to get what it’s easily worth. The buy it now price is $15,995.00, but I do need the money for company equipment at the moment, so please make a reasonable offer and i'll seriously consider it. Someone may end up legally stealing this beautiful piece of vehicle history for less than it's true value if the interested buyers don't find it here, I'm not and never have attempted to sell it here or anywhere else until now, 10-30-17. I purchased the truck from a couple in their late 80's, the husband was a Chevrolet truck enthusiast that no longer drove, his wife did all the driving due to illness. I added the list from the glovebox and the v.i.n plate on 11-1-17, So send your offer!, I must and will sell it and you can be certainIt will only rise in value coolness as it has steadily done for the last 35 of it's cozy life. Don’t let it get away GOD bless.
From Wikipedia note on the 454
The 454 Tonawanda Engine; The Vortec 8100 L18 was a V8truck engine. It was a redesigned Chevrolet Big-Block engine and was introduced with the 2001 full-size pickup trucks. It is an all-iron engine (block and heads) with two valves per cylinder. It retained the same bore diameter as the old 7.4L Big-Blocks, but the stroke was upped by 9.4mm (0.37in) to reach 8.1L (496cuin), for a total of 107.95mm (4.25in) bore and 111mm (4.37in) stroke. Power output ranged from 340hp (254kW) to 550hp (410kW),and torque from 455lb·ft (617N·m) to 690lb·ft (936N·m).
Other important differences between the Vortec 8100 and older Big Blocks include a changed firing order (1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3), a new 18-bolt head bolt pattern, longer connecting rods, different symmetrical intake ports, different oil pan rails and the use of metric threads throughout the engine. The fuel-injection system for the Vortec 8100 is nearly identical to that used on Gen III engines, right down to the fuel and spark tables in the ECU.
Vortec 8100s were built at GM's Tonawanda Engine plant. The last L18 was manufactured in December 2009.Many custom engine builders across the United States, as well as a large variety of aftermarket components manufactured for the Big Block family, make it possible to build a complete Big Block engine that contains no Chevrolet components. Blocks made of both iron and aluminum alloys, for many different purposes—e.g. street-use, racing, etc.—are available in stock or modified configurations, as well as with increased deck height to allow for a longer stroke or more favorable rod length ratios, depending on intent, providing the ability to make engines with capacities of 632-cubic-inch (Jump up
