Up for auction is my 1949 Chevrolet 3100 pickup, this truck started outas a clean west Texas truck that was sold by Modern Chevrolet in Lubbock, Tx. I bought the truck in 2014 from an old man outside of Lubbock. I drove the truckin it's original formfor almost a year before tearing it apart and building it into the truck it is today. This is the cleanest AD truck that I have ever ran across. I did absolutely no metal work on this truck. It has 1 small rust spot on the bottom of the A pillar extension on the passenger side. This is as close to rust free as you will ever find.
Powertrain: I installed a brand new LS 4.8L GM crate engine in the truck, it is wired with a new PSI Conversion harness and computer, All sensors are brand new GM/ Delphi. The transmission is a 43k 4L60E. It was clean inside and out. I installed a new filter and a new Art Carr converter. Shifts great. Also a brand new Gen IV vintage air system was installed when built with the new electric servo's, Sanden compressor and Quik Performance bracket kit. Blows Ice cold air. The radiator isan aluminumR&D Fabrication LS swap radiator good to 550 hp. Fan is a Flex A Lite Cyclone and it is controlled by a Painless fan relay kit. The truck has a completely rebuilt GM 8.5" Camaro 10 bolt with 3.73's. Driveline was retubed and balanced. The truck has a Tanks Inc. fuel tank with an in tank EFI pump. Supply and return lines are both -6AN braided steel lines.
Chassis/Suspension: The truck has a TCI Engineering Custom IFS featuring tubular upper and lower control arms, Ridetech Shockwaves, Mustang Power rack and pinion and a sway bar. The front end was boxed and 100% TIG welded by a professional welder. Front brakes are 11" Wilwood's with drilled and slotted rotors. The rear brakes are rebuilt 11x2 GM drums. The truck has a POL under dash pedal kit to eliminate the pedal going through the floorboard. Rear suspension is a TCI 4 link with air bags. The air ride control system is manufactured by Air Ride Technologies (Ridetech). It isa brand new 4 way adjustable kit. The air system consists of a Accuair5 gallon tank and a pair of Viair 400C compressors housed in a Grunion Performance bracket. It will air up from empty to full pressure within 90 seconds.
Body/Interior: The body is 100% untouched as it was found. I replaced all of the glass, door seals, and windshield seals. Both doors have been completely rebuilt and roll up and down smoothly. The door locks even work! The whole truck has been wrapped in FAT MAT to keep the noise down and heat out. It is pretty quiet inside for a 1949 model. Dakota Digital built a custom gauge overlay for this truck. It was designed based off of a aircraft instrument panel. The truck also has a Dakota Digital cruise control system. It is already installed in the truck but I have not programmed it yet.The seat is a 88-98 Chevrolet bench seat which is covered in black vinyl and Porsche plaid material. Door panels also share the same material. Headliner was replaced with a vinyl once piece design. The inside of the cab/doors were stripped to bare metal and primed before being painted the black finish that you see today. The body was rewired with a brand new harness. Truck has LED parking lights and tail lights that look awesome at night. The bed floor is cabinet grade plywood that has been antiqued and had a teak oil finish applied for easy maintenance. Floor is fully removable to access the underside of the truck. The truck has a tilt column and Camaro sport wheel. There is a Pioneer cd player mounted under the seat powering 2 Kicker 6x9's in the cab corners in custom brackets. The dash displays very well all chrome is new and bright.
The only thing that keeps this truck from being maintenance free:
Small power steering leak....I am working on getting this fixed before it leaves
Dakota Digital cruise isn't programmed yet
Rock chip on passenger front windshield (filled)
Windshield wipers are not hooked up
This truck stands out and turns heads wherever it goes....it has an awesome patina that cannot be replicated. It has been driven 3000 miles since it was built. I have drove it on a 14 hour round trip ride with no issues. I am selling to fund another project. I reserve the right to end the auction early at anytime as truck is for sale locally as well. The truck comes with the 15" black Camaro Rally wheels....if you wish to have the Steelies with the wide whites ADD $1200 to the final price!
I will assist in shipping the truck in any way that I can....partial delivery might also be an option depending on your location. I may be able to deliver to the Pate swap meet at the Texas Motor Speedway April 26th-28th. I will accept cash or wire transfer.I have all receipts for the build.Call or Text (806) 683-1893 with any questions. I can get additional pictures if necessary. Bid now and get this truck before car show season starts. I would not be afraid to drive this truck anywhere. Thanks!
