1974 Chevrolet El Camino Additional Info:
Here is a real "Y" code (454) SS El Camino. It is optioned with the factory swivel bucket seats and automatic on the floor, tilt wheel, full guages including tach, AC, and posi rear end. Originally was silver with a black vinyl top and black interior. It now has the seat cover inserts done in yellow, I didn't do it. The dash has some cracks. Tach, speedo, clock, after market oil pressure guage, ammeter, all work. The car has been cheaply painted in my opinion on top of the original silver paint and was done in 03 I was told. Silver paint can be seen under flaking paint in pic of drivers side door hinge area. I do not have the vinyl top trim peice for passenger side as of yet. It is wearing a 1975 Laguna nose but I do not know if that was put on in the factory or later. It has mostly sat on a CA. non op since 2004 but I decided to get it going again and move it along. I put a new sending unit in the fuel tank last week and a new Edelbrock carb in place of the old Edelbrock carb and she is up and running again. Three years ago I put a new fuel pump on it and had the old Edelbrock rebuilt but it didn't work well and I let it sit until now. It runs but does start to smoke when revved up. I believe it needs valve seals as they have probably dried. There is an Offy Sonic Port intake manifold on the 454 but I don't sense much else has been done to the engine, maybe a mild cam. It has an after market dual exhaust system on it that was done many years ago but it sounds good. Wheels were new 15x8's D type stock car wheels I bought four years ago and put on this car with new tires out back and near new tires up front. Fronts especially are now dry. I do not have rally wheels for it. After market radio is out and on the floor so there is no radio in radio slot. I also put a new master cylinder on it and the brakes do work. Anyways, this is the last of the factory big block El Caminos and with buckets and floor shift it is quite rare! Could be a super beautiful car if put back to original. It is a very dry west coast body. Some minor bubbling under vinyl top but no rust around rear window or windshield. Bed has no rot. I have a compressor and bracketry to go with for AC but did not come off this car. I can be reached at (818)321-7667 or at royalknot AT netzero .com
