Up for your consideration is my ’67 Chevelle. It should be appreciated that I do not need to sell this car. Likewise, I am not delusional to believe that I will come even close to recapturing the money that has been invested in this car over the last 10 years (folders of receipts). The car is being auctioned for really only one reason – I have lost interest and do not drive it enough. The time has come for someone else to enjoy this wonderful car. The reserve is set fairly and if it is not met – I will happily keep the car.
I would classify the car as a nice and reliable ‘driver’. If you are looking for a trailer queen or Concours restoration, this is not the car for you. Similarly, if you are looking for an authentic, original SS, keep looking, as this is not the car for you. What we have here is a very nice 50 year-old136 car. Car has current (9/2017) PA inspection – This in of and by itself provides a wealth of information regarding the car’s operating condition (I don’t have a ‘guy’ that just slaps a sticker on). I never did get around to putting the antique tags on.
If you are looking for a ’67 Chevelle with a 396, 4-speed and 12 bolt rear, keep reading. Car has been garage kept under cover over the last 10 years. Car has been a fair weather car driven sparingly April/May through November. Car has not seen a drop of rain in the last 10 years.
Exterior
Car was painted just over 10 years ago. It retains its original Bolero Red factory color. The paint as you can see from the images looks and shines nicely. That being said, there are imperfections, minor chips and 1 minor ‘ding’ that is located on driver’s side front fender (it is small). Most of these imperfections are difficult to capture on camera even with the digital SLR I used to take the images. There is no rust. To the best of my knowledge, the car retains its original sheet metal (obvious exception is the hood). The hood is an authentic SS hood. Hood springs have been replaced. New SS grill. Front marker/signal light assemblies have been replaced. Reverse light assemblies replaced. Reverse lights and all blinkers as well as front lights, tail lights, & high beams work! Bumpers are solid and chrome shines nicely. Exterior 396 and SS badges in place.
Engine
All machine shop work was performed by Jeff and his crew at DLK Auto Parts & Performance (http://www.dlkautoparts.com/) in Russellton including but not limited to magnafluxing and balancing of entire rotating assembly.
My best guess is that I have put ~1,000 miles on the engine/transmission since built
Engine highlights include:
’66 396 961 (2 bolt) block – Bored 30 over; Brass freeze plugs installed
Pad #T0630LEF316499
’68 100cc closed chamber 215 heads – fitted with Edelbrock Performer springs; hardened valve seats
Forged steel 6223 GM crank – standard on the mains & rods – simply needed a polish.
Melling Oil Pump
GM big block connecting rods (not the dimple variety)
OEM style rocker arms and pushrods
Federal Mogul – Speed Pro Pistons – L2240NF
Edelbrock Performer Plus Camshaft – Catalog #2162 with matching hydraulic lifters
Edelbrock Performer Aluminum Intake manifold
Edelbrock Performer Carburetor (EDL-1411) 750cfm with electric choke
Headers – unsure of brand name
2½” exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers – Exhaust system is in excellent condition
ARP bolts used for entire engine assembly
MSD Pro-Billet Ready to Run Distributor
MSD Coil
Taylor Cable Spark Plug Wires
Energy Suspension motor mounts
Flex fan
New radiator shroud
All new hoses

Steering column was replaced with a rebuilt model from an SS
Power Steering
Transmission
Muncie M-21 ’67 4 speed:
Body: 3885010
Tail: 3857584GM
Side Cover: 3884685
Top: 7P130198
The tranny was rebuilt by a local performance shop before mating to engine and installing.
New Hurst competition plus shifter
New Centerforce Dual Friction clutch with brass pilot bushing
12 Bolt rear end – I have no idea what the gear ratio is other than to say the car does not tach high (2.5K?) going down the highway at 65 mph in 4th gear. Not a posi.
Interior
Odometer reads 69,126 (as of this writing) – believed to be original miles
Black vinyl seats including correct front ’67 buckets. All vinyl is in excellent condition.
4 Speed console with working clock
New carpet – When carpet was replaced, original floor pans were noted to be in excellent condition. They were subsequently coated with a treatment of Rust-Bullet.
OEM style mats in front and rear
All wiring including fuse box under dash has been replaced with American Autowire harnesses including:
Engine harness with gauges;
Front wiring harness;
Dash harness (this is the expensive one);
Rear Body Light Harness.
These replacement wires are excellent. Color coded as original & pre-cut to correct length out of the bag. New wiring significantly decreases the likelihood of a fire from 50 year-old wiring.
Headliner in excellent shape
Dome light works – switches in both doors were replaced
New dash OEM style dash pad
Majority of dash hardware has been replaced
Period correct AM radio – is not hooked up. Speaker under dash was removed.
There is no other sound system in this vehicle except for the fine roar of the engine!
SS Gauge package – Gas Gauge/Battery; Temp/Oil Pressure (each work correctly)
SS horn – works
Aftermarket old school Sun tach – also works
Heater assembly is not hooked up
Trunk
Original pans – running a little thin in center though no holes. I did place a small (~4”x6”) piece of fiberglass over the central thin part of trunk after sanding but prior to coating with POR-15 and painting with original color trunk spatter paint.
Gas vent was removed, cleaned (inside and out) and reinstalled – functions correctly
New ventless gas cap installed
Brakes/Tires
New front power brake (MBM) disc conversion. Professionally installed.
Rear drums – in excellent working order
Excellent tread on all 4 of these radials that measure - 235 60 R15s
Car has had a computer alignment
Glass
Front windshield was replaced within last couple years as it was generally scratched
All other glass appears to be original & in good condition
All windows roll up and down as they should
Underneath
Excellent shape. Entire undersurface of car was sanded to remove light coating of surface rust. Afterwards, a coating of black POR-15 was applied to entire underneath of the vehicle.
Gas tank; gas tank straps; sending unit are new
Suspension
All 4 coil springs & shocks are new & were replaced with an OEM variety
Ball joints are new and were professionally installed
