All first-generation 60 Specials (1938-40) were built at the Fleetwood Plant in Detroit, the 60 Special was marketed as a Fisher Body Car in 1938 and 1939. The Sixty Special was intended as an owner-driven car, rather than a chauffeur-driven one. The Sixty Special was powered by Cadillac's 130 hp, 346 cu in flathead V8 Engine. It was built on a 127-inch wheelbase, 3 inches longer and lower than the standard Series 60 car. The Sixty Special utilized a unique "X" frame underneath. Weight 4,170 lb. More than 5500 Sixty Specials were built for 1939.
