1972 Cadillac DeVille 472 V8 Mostly Original Adriatic Blue Poly Paint Rust Free Additional Info:

Hello friends, we're beyond excited, and honored to offer our unrestored1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, and find the next caretaker of this prominent piece of classic car history.

The Cadillac

We purchased this Adriatic Blue '72 Coupe DeVille survivor in early 2023 from the son of the gentleman who purchased the car back in 1973. Yes, this car was in the same family for FIFTY YEARS. It still wears most of its factory Adriatic Blue Poly paint, and yes, it looks this cool in person.

Since our purchase, we've driven the car more than 500 miles throughout Wisconsin. We've have had an absolute ball cruising this Cadillac around town, and at Interstate speeds. This one is HONEST, friends. She fires right up, goes through the proper idle speeds through warm-up, and drives like your memories of these '72 Coupe DeVilles. The interior still has that iconic Cadillac smell to it. Yes, the one you remember as a kid. After the owner died in the early 2000's, two of his sons continued to care for the car until my purchase in early 2023. The Cadillac was driven sparingly each year after Dad died, which I believe helped keep this car as road-worthy as it is. We've changed the oil, greased the front end, and added a set of correct 1972 BF Goodrich Silvertown double-stripe whitewalls, but otherwise, we just got in and DROVE...

Below, you'll find over 340 detailed photos of the car, along with almost 40 minutes of HD video linked below. We leave no stone unturned, and are here to answer any questions along the way.

34,566 Miles?

We love buying cars with extensive paper trails; occasional oil change records, or repair receipts to document miles. Sometimes, though, paperwork doesn't come with, and we're left to do some sleuthing to determine whether a car is truly a survivor. We believe the miles on this car to be correct, and the son of the owner has offered to include a signed statement as well.

Yes, we're aware of the wear on the driver's seat. Please remember that this car spent nearly 20 years in California. Prior to purchasing this car, I wondered about the mileage, too. I even called my Dad on this one. My Grandparents drove Cadillacs for 40 years, and I knew my Dad would have some insight. I told him I was contemplating a low mileage Cadi, but the cloth wear on the driver's seat made me nervous. I could only smile when Dad said my Grandpa only ordered leather with his Cadillacs because he had such poor experiences with the cloth holding up. That put my mind at ease. We're including 2 yards of NOS fabric from SMS Upholstery, if the next owner would like to have the front seat bottom replaced.

In addition, there are a number of other reasons we believe the miles to be original. First, the condition of the rest of the interior is indicative of a low mileage car. The carpet, dash, woodrain insert on the steering wheel, and lack of wear on the gas & brake pedal all scream LOW miles. Next, we took off the wheels when having the new tires installed. The factory grooved front rotors are still intact, along with what looks to be the original rear shoes, springs, and wheel cylinders. Next, T3 headlights for 1972 are unique versus other years of T3 headlights, and all 4 original headlights are intact. Next, please look closely at the original glass on this car, specifically the windshield. The glass on this car is STUNNING...about as scratch-free as it gets and near mint. High mileage glass, and especially windshields, don't look like this. All of the striped fuses in the panel are originals. It's incredibly unlikely that a high mileage car would have an entire fuse panel of original fuses. The chrome and trim on this car also has every indication of a low mileage survivor. Lastly, it just simply runs and drives like other low mileage survivors we've had over the years. Ultimately, it's up to the buyer to make up their mind, but this '72 Coupe DeVille is as honest a car as we've owned. Below are some smaller photos to look at, but larger examples are in the general photos below as well.

This gorgeous '72 wears approximately two-thirds original paint. We see some blends on one side of the hood, along with a quarter panel, into a door. The remaining paint looks factory to us, and the entire car has an authentic, similar look. It isn't obvious where some work has been done. We believe the vinyl top is original, along with the chrome and trim. All show terrifically well.

The undercarriage is incredibly honest on this one, too. Although undercoated when new, the car has been stored in dry climates, and hasn't developed an abundance of scale, etc underneath. It looks the part of a survivor.

The engine compartment continues with the survivor theme. There are a ton of original parts in place, but this car HAS had maintenance over the years to keep it safe to drive. Belts and hoses have been replaced, and a tune-up was performed when one brother took possession from the other a number of years back. The car runs and drives INCREDIBLY WELL. The BF Goodrich Silvertown tires offer a phenomenal ride, and this one still has the vintage Cadillac "float" to it. The bottom line is we put over 500 miles on this car this season, and feel confident taking it anywhere. One trip to a car show in Milwaukee, WI was a 220 mile round-trip day.
