1963 Cadillac DeVille Additional Info:
They are only original once! Feast your eyes on probably the most original, unrestored 1963 Cadillac convertible in existence.
We found this car in upstate New York, as part of an estate. According to the widow, her late husband was a Coast Guard pilot and freelance aerial photographer, who passed away in 1998. He drove the car in good weather and kept it impeccable.
Finished in Bahama Sand, with Desert Tan interior, this 78K mile beauty boasts nearly every options for the year including auto-dimming headlights and ultra-rare power vent windows.
Interior:All the power options appear to be working. All the lights are working including the gunsights on top of the fenders and interior courtesy lights. Gauges and warning lights, power seat, radio, all windows including vents, horn all work. Carpet and door panels show extremely well. Seats could use some additional cleaning, but presentable as-is. Oil change stickers back to the 80’s on the inner door jamb.
Exterior:All exterior lights are working. Power antenna moves with help. With the exception of the dent on the passenger door, the body is factory straight. Doors open and close like new. Bumpers show beautifully, with no signs of rust. The paint is checked in areas, but appears to be original, with some touch-up on the hood at some point. No signs of body filler anywhere. The tires hold air but should be replaced. The convertible top looks to be original, and rain-tight.
Trunk Area:Solid trunk pan with original carpet. Underside of trunk lid absolutely perfect with zero rust. Original spare tire, jack and tools intact; all stored using the factory mounting points. Original tire changing instruction card intact.
Undercarriage:This is where the car really shines. This is a factory/dealer undercoated car. I have only seen one other in my 20+ years of collecting these that have been undercoated. The floors are original and rust-free. I peeled back a quarter-size chunk of undercoat from the driver side floor pan that revealed shiny steel. The frame is rust free.
Drivetrain:The numbers-matching engine has been treated to a basic tuneup including points, condenser, cap, rotor, plugs, wires and coil andruns nice with no smoking or knocking. The transmission operates in all gears. Throttle is responsive. Looking underneath, I don’t see any active leaks.
Steering/Suspension:The entire braking system has been rebuilt with new master cylinder, brake lines, hoses, and wheel cylinders and shoes. The front end was inspected during the brake work and felt tight up and down and side to side.
Whether you are looking for an ideal restoration candidate, or something that presents well enough to drive as-is, look no further. The car will be sold with a New York registration and a bill of sale only. Reserve is low as I’m looking to focus my attention on the needs of my growing collection. Don’t miss out on this one!
3 hours from the New York Port - international buyers welcome!
Shipping is the buyers responsibility, but I have a transporter dedicated to my collection and will share his contact info with the winning bidder as a courtesy.
