1939 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Additional Info:
For Sale is a 1939 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Limousine. This is not a La Salle, but the Fleetwood big boy. This car, in 1939 was the cost of 4 Buicks, and was the most luxurious vehicle made in the United States.
It is powered by a 347 Cubic Inch V-8 Flathead engine that runs very smooth. It starts every time and idles well. It pulls well through the 3-speed manual transmission. The brakes work well and were all rebuilt. The engine is stock, with the single barrel carburetor. (I will post engine photos later).
The vehicle was modified for cooling. These cars had a thermostat in the radiator. Before I bought the car, the radiator had already been modified and the thermostat and fins missing. I fabricated an all aluminum radiator with a catch can. It runs at a cool 190 degrees on a warm CA day.
The car was found on the streets of West Hollywood and sat for 25 years. I purchased it and restored it through a Cadillac company called All Cads of the 40's and 50's. (Ed Cholokian). I have full photographs of the restoration, and can prove any rust that was on the car was replaced with lead, not bondo. (It was done in Las Vegas). The car is painted in glossy black and shines as it should. It is a head turner.
The interior is no longer mulhair, but a very elegant cloth fabric. The wood trim was restored in the passenger area. The front wood trim was too far gone to save.
The vehicle is now for sale and is garaged in dry California. Buy has to arrange pick up or shipping. Vehicle is sold as is with no warranties. These cars are extremely rare and will climb in value.
What it needs:Passenger side window crank to be installed.Passenger side wind wing window cracked. I have the replacement.Fuel guage sending unit just stopped working.Shift linkage needs adjustment. It works fine, just a bit finicky.A small touch up to the paint on the passenger side A pillar. I see a few spiderweb cracks from where the top filler may have failed slightly. You have to look to find it but I see it.
Oil was changed recently along with the aluminum radiator. An annode is in the radiator to ensure no corrosion takes place with the bi-metal composition of cast iron and aluminum.
