1949 Cadillac Series 61 Additional Info:
This is my 1949 Cadillac two door sedan, with a rare original factory standard shift. I have owned this car for around 20 years, and it is in just about the same condition as when I got it. Back in 1949, only about 5% of the Cadillacs had a standard shift, and the rest all had automatic transmissions. The stick shift Cadillacs are much faster and fun to drive.
Mechanically, this car runs good. I have not driven it very much over the 20+ years I have owned it, probably less than 1,000 miles. It has always been garaged. It will need a front end alignment since it will start to shimmy above 45 mph. It could also be because of the tires, which have flat areas from sitting for so long. All of the lights work, including the directionals. The radio and horn do not work. It shifts fine. It had new brakes installed a year or so ago, and they are working good. The speedometer needle fell off, but I have a new dash with gauges that will come with the car. Originally the car would have a 2 barrel, and it has been upgraded to a 4 barrel. I have the 2 barrel manifold. I also have an extra standard transmission that would go with the car if the buyer wanted it. It has been upgraded to 12 volt.
The body is in good condition. It does not appear to have any bondo. The dark blue paint is cracking in a few places. The chrome is bright and shiny, but there are a couple of areas that show signs of wear. The interior I believe is all original, except for the seat covers that were put on before I got it. It has the original seats under the covers.
The trunk has no rust in it. It has the original interior in the trunk, with a spare tire cover. On the front driver's side fender there is a little bubble on the bottom, which was there when I purchased the car.
It is difficult to describe every detail in this car, so please see photos closely and ask any and all questions you may have. You are also welcome to inspect the car in person before bidding.
I will keep the car safely in my garage, so once the car is paid for, there will be no hurry for the buyer to pick it up.
