1957 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Additional Info:
1957 Cadillac Convertible - series 62 - original pink (mountain laurel) - original 365 c.i. V-8 w/automatic transmission - I'm the 3rd owner, and all of the owners have been in my hometown, Excelsior Springs, MO - the original owner was my family doctor who lived one block from us while I was growing up - he was also the doctor for the local GM dealer where he purchased the car new - the second owner, still local, purchased it in March, 1968, with 72,000 miles on it, from the same local dealer, after my doctor traded it in - I purchased it in 2001 with 116,000 miles, and it now has 137,400 miles and has always been parked inside since I've had it, and has hardly been driven at all the last couple of years - since I've had it, I've had it repainted the original color, installed new top w/back windshield, new padded dash, new exhaust, new aftermarket hubcap centers with new hood and trunk crest emblems - have bolted in rear bumper center section from a Cadillac Fleetwood to get the upright teeth that better match the style of the bumper ends and hubcaps - then re-chromed complete rear bumper and ends - installed a hidden frame mounted receiver hitch that is concealed behind the hinged fold up license plate - I have had the generator updated to an alternator, carb overhauled, just installed new top motor, pump and cylinders, and just have appx. 2000 miles on tires and battery - installed electric fuel pump and electric windshield wiper conversion - the upholstery is decent, except for an appx. 6 in. seam split under the driver - what has been redone is in the original pattern, but with naugahyde on the upper and bottom of the front seat, and also the bottom of the rear seat - the upright of the rear seat is still in the original leather - has working power seats and windows, and also the Autronic eye, which automatically dims the head lights as needed - has decent brakes after you sometimes have to pump the pedal a couple of times when first starting it for the day - the second owner did say that he had had the engine overhauled at about 100,000 miles - the main repair that I've had done was when I noticed a crack in the front cross member - I had it fixed right by removing the engine, having a welder fix the crack, and also match up the other side, which wasn't cracked, to keep that side from cracking later - I've since been told that this repair is not uncommon on the large General Motors convertibles of this era - when I put the top down for some of the pictures, I didn't snap the boot/cover and stretch it for driving because of the cold and the material was stiff - car could use the floorboards repaired - previous owner lifted original carpet, laid in lightweight steel overlay panels, and replaced carpet - looks good from the top, bad from the bottom - there is one appx. 1/2 in. long crack in the driver's door glass, right in the corner under the chrome, that was there when I got it, and an appx. 4 in. long windshield rub/scratch on the far left of the windshield, appx. 2 in. from the windshield post, also there when I got it - also, the radio tries to work, but I think it has an antenna problem, as there is an auxiliary antenna laying out of sight under the dash - lights and turn signals work, but the dash indicators for the turn signals do not work correctly - there are three appx. 3/4 in. wide small bubbles in the 15 year old paint job right between the right rear wheel and the chrome spears - engine does have a couple of small oil leaks, that should improve with more frequent driving - also, in the last picture, as I was backing out of the garage last week, I put a couple of long, very shallow scratches/rubs in the paint on the passenger side lower body between the rear wheel and the bumper - I am not a dealer, but I have described this car to the best of my ability - I have owned this car nearly 17 years, and have briefly tried to tell everything about it - this car is 60 years old, and there is no warranty from me or General Motors, and the car is being sold as is, where is, with no warranties either expressed or implied - I will work with any shipper that the buyer sends, whether USA or international, and can offer secure indoor storage for a reasonable length of time after the sale at no charge - Thanks for looking and good luck on the bidding - Ray Cave
