IMPPORTANT!! PLEASE READ!! I will NOT be using eBay Secured Payment/Caramel to transact this sale! I will only do immediate $500 deposit, with balance due by wire transfer from your bank to mine within 7 days of purchase! The "Secured Payment/Caramel" service is way too complicated and invasive for both parties. Therefore, I will only do business the "old fashioned way" as I have done on eBay for the last 20 years of selling my vehicles! If eBay Secured Payment/Caramel are "must have" services for you, please move on and buy from another seller.
I am selling a gorgeous original SURVIVOR 1976 Buick Century sedan with only 37,000 original miles! This was out of an estate originally. I acquired the car 4 years ago, kept it in my collection for 2 years, then sold it to a long-time friend who wanted a nice classic car to cruise in with the family. His situation has changed some, so he has asked me to sell it for him since I know the car well.
This 50 year old Buick is an amazing time capsule! You would think you were looking at a well-kept 3 to 4 year old late model used car! The green paint is nice and shiny, interior is immaculate, and it is very clean original stock under the hood and in the trunk. Still has the original spare tire in the trunk in like-new condition! Car has not been wrecked or rusted. Underneath is very clean and original as well! Chrome and bright work are all nice, bright, and shiny. All original stock car with no modifications. Still has the original 1976 license plate and original dealer installed plastic on the back seat!
Car is equipped with Buick's "bullet proof" 350/2bbl V8 engine and Turbo-350 automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, rear defogger, and radio.
Within the last 6000 miles car has had:
1. Battery2. Belts3. Hoses4. Tires5. Brakes6. Tune-up7. Shocks8. Exhaust work
I would not be afraid to jump in this car and drive it anywhere! I just drove it on a 120 mile trip about 10 days ago. Last year, my buddy drove it on a 1200 mile round trip for vacation to Pennsylvania and back, again, with NO issues. Gas mileage seems to range between 15 to 20 MPG on 87 octane regular unleaded.
Here are some minor things car will need down the road:
1. Driver's window is a bit loose on its track and will need a couple plastic bushings replaced. Still goes up and down, just a bit finicky as it gets to the top. These bushings are available at Advance and Auto Zone for $10.
2. As shown, the small left-rear bumper filler has deteriorated and is missing. We have a new replacement piece as shown that just needs to be painted and installed.
3. Even though most of the exhaust was replaced from the converter back, the rear section of the tail pipe has gotten a couple holes in it and should be replaced down the road. Also, a hanger on the front side of the muffler needs to be re-welded at the front side of the muffler. A local exhaust shop estimated these repairs at $150.
4. The radio comes on, but the speaker is blown and needs to be replaced. It's just a factory AM radio, and I'm sure most people would want to install their own more modern sound system.
None of the above needs to be done right away, and can be done eventually as you have time. Car is otherwise "Turn Key"!
This is a great opportunity to get into the classic car hobby at a very affordable price! Where can you buy ANY used car, let alone a classic with under 40,000 miles for this price range?? Remember, they are only original ONCE! IF someone GAVE you a "project car" for FREE, you could not restore and turn it into this car for the price!
Here are some advantages of having a car like this:
1. No complicated, expensive sensors, computerization or "check engine" lights.2. Not subject to expensive emissions testing.3. Low property taxes and registration fees.4. Modern enough for regular transportation, and also old enough for car shows and "cruise-ins".5. Car is actually holding its value or increasing, unlike most cars that depreciate as they get older.6. Discounted "agreed value" insurance available on these cars.7. Very simple to maintain and repair at low cost for parts and labor unlike today's complicated cars.8. These old Buicks were quality built of durable materials like battleships and known to be virtually "bullet proof"
About me: I have collected and fooled with cars from the 1950's to early 1980's for over 40 years! I favor original un-restored "SURVIVOR" cars. I will sometimes help a friend sell one, or sell one out of my collection when it is replaced with a new arrival. We are located in Darlington, SC, about 15 minutes from the junction of I-20 and I-95 (Florence, SC), so near main routes that are easy for transporters to get to.
Please call me at 704-661-1326 for any additional questions or concerns.
NOW FOR THE RULES:
1. Your bid is a contract! This is NOT a video game! If you bid, you are expected to pay and complete the deal! Please have your money in place and all decision makers consulted BEFORE you commit to buy.
2. a $500 non-refundable partial payment is due immediately upon purchase with balance due within 7 days. Bank wire transfer from your bank to mine is the preferred and safest method to pay balance. This creates a paper trail from your bank to mine through the Federal Reserve banking system.
3. Title, paperwork, and vehicle will not be allowed to leave here until vehicle is paid for in full with collected funds. No exceptions.
4. Car is sold here at my premises. Transportation is buyer's responsibility. I will assist you and your transporter any way I reasonably can, but still your responsibility.
5. Car can remain here for a reasonable amount of time while transport is being arranged, but you should secure insurance immediately upon buying the car. I will take reasonable care to keep it safe, but cannot be responsible for Acts of God or circumstances beyond my control.
6. Please call me with any questions or concerns BEFORE you bid at 704-661-1326.
7, Car is sold strictly AS-IS with NO WARRANTY. Remember, this is a 50 year old classic used car. Any used vehicle will have minor dings, scratches, cosmetic flaws, etc. It is a really nice car, but there is no such thing as a perfect car. Even brand new cars in the showrooms have flaws.
Sorry for all the rules, but it seems 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks for looking and feel free to call me at 704-661-1326 with any questions or concerns.
