Let me let you in on a little secret that the Buick faithful already know - The 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 is a ridiculously fast Muscle Car. How fast? Well, In 1984, a little known magazine called Muscle Car Review published a story documenting the fastest 50 muscle cars of all time. This wasn't a road test, this wasn't vehicles they prepared, no nothing like that. Instead, they published 1/4mile times from sources when the cars were brand... new. Little did they know, but #3 on the list was going to start a debate that 34 years later still rages on. on the list was the 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 that clocked a quarter mile time of 13.38 at 105mph. Only two vehicles, a 1966 427 Corvette and the famed 1966 Shelby Cobra did it faster. The MOPAR faithful were furious, This meant that a Buick was faster than a HEMI Cuda, Hemi Challenger, Hemi Charger and for what it's worth a '70 LS6 454 Chevelle SS. A few months later the magazine lined up the two infamous muscle cars at the first annual Super Car Shootout where the results were the same, The Buick outran the Hemi in 2 out of the 3 passes. The authenticity of that race and those cars are debated, But it didn't matter, the best kept secret in the muscle car industry was out of the bag - these Buicks were grossly underestimated from factory and capable of competing with the biggest names from the era. Now the bad news, a real Buick GS 455 Stage 1 regardless of year, is a RARE car! Add a convertible to the mix and now you've got one of the rarest muscle cars of all time. In fact, only 232 real 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 convertibles were built in 1970. This gorgeous '70 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 Clone is obviously not one of those rare cars. If it was, it would easily be $100k car. Originally leaving the factory as a 1970 Buick Skylark Custom, today it sits as a Stage 1 clone that you don't have to feel guilty about taking out on the open road. If you are hunting that drop top that packs a punch and looks killer doing it, then this is the car for you. The gorgeous red paint is accented by a wrap around black stripe, correct GS 455 Stage 1 badging and the correct functional ram air hood. The body lines are very good and the paint quality shows very well. It's not so clean that you aren't going to want to drive it, but still nice enough to win awards at your local shows. Inside the engine bay you'll find a 455ci V8 with the correct GS 455 ram air filter with Stage 1 badging. The engine fires up very easily and has a great sound thanks to a new exhaust. The engine dates to 1972, with a 1238861 casting number and the correct 455 cast in the block. Highly detailed and very authentic, this Buick's engine bay is NICE! Inside, you'll find that starting with a skylark wasn't necessarily a bad thing because now we have power windows, power locks, tilt, A/C, power steering, power brakes and best of all, all functional. The interior shows little to no wear and with the power top down, it's a great place to enjoy the summer in. Don't miss your chance to own this rare car! Call Today! DOES IT WORK?
