1960 Buick Electra Electra 225 Convertible Additional Info:

You are bidding on a fully restored 1960 Buick Electra 225 Convertible.

This car is from my personal collection – I am no longer a dealer, only restore and preserve my own collection. I employ three craftsmen to help me with this endeavor. We are out of room in the showroom and I am about to take on a few new projects. The 1960 Buick (along with a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible and a 1967 Chevelle SS 396) will be sold to free up needed space.

I purchased the Electra 225 Convertible several years ago from a prominent dealer. He told me that the car was restored, owever the interior was not installed. When I received the car it was obvious that it was restored, owever – by a complete amateur. It required a proper restoration.

Our restorations are comprehensive. We always take the paint down to bare metal. We remove all glass. We remove the entire interior. All rubber is removed and the chrome, tainless, umpers, tc. are all removed. Thus we start with a bare shell.
From there we check all mechanical components. In this case, e knew that the engine and transmission were rebuilt and appeared to be done properly. (the car runs beautifully, own the road).

We replace/recondition/repair all needed components, uch as brakes, uspension, teering, lectrical, tc. The car is made to drive as close to original as possible.

We remove all paint, hen apply four coats of base color (in this case Tampico Red) and then complete the paint job with four coats of clear. You can swim in the paint (or at least that is our goal). This Buick enjoys, hat must be, $30 - $40,000 paint job. She is laser straight (which isn’t easy given the curvaceous nature of the Buick).
The interior was redone with new carpeting and new leather seats. The interior combination of two-tone burgundy is original and matches the dark burgundy dashboard.

The electric seats work fine as do the windows and top.
The electric convertible top is new. The tires are new – and the wire wheels, lthough not original, re also new. We do have the original hubcaps, hey are in excellent condition and go along with the sale.

The chrome is in excellent condition. Also, e restored the stainless rocker panel trim, hich isn’t easy to do – however, eplacement trim is non existent. If you don’t have this trim – you are sorely out of luck. Ours is original to the car – as are the motor and transmission.

The car is stunning and imposing. She is 22 feet long, hich is the length of a new Cadillac Escalade long wheel base. The wire wheels add a very elegant demeanor to the car and she looks great with the top up or down. She glides down the highway under effortless power.
The 225 Electra is 8 inches longer than the usual 1960 Buicks (Invicta’s etc) and the extra length enhances the smooth ride. She was (and is) a true rival to the Cadillac Eldorado. It is well known that Cadillac complained that the Electra 225 was eating into the sale of the Eldo – so GM brass agreed to limited the size and luxury of the 1961 Buick models. Gone were the ultra luxury Buicks, hanks to Cadillac.

The speedometer is novel, s you are looking at an adjustable mirror – not at the actual dials and numerals. This was done to allow drivers of all sizes to adjust the speedometer cluster to their own personal height. Simple but effective. The headlights of this 225 were also modelled after the jet engines hanging from the B52 Bomber, ight down to the crease between the lights mimicking the supports between the jet engines on the wing. GM, n general, llowed aircraft to direct their styling efforts, hanks to Harley Earl years before.

Please review the videos – and hi res pictures.

Ask as many questions as you’d like, want a happy buyer. Emails are answered promptly. I encourage inspections – strongly. I allow test drives by appointment only. Inspections are also welcomed – at our shop (we have lifts, tc.). Due to her age, his Buick is sold as-is, here-is. No warranty is implied or inferred. Come to see this car and you won’t be disappointed. We’ve spent well in excess of $125,000 restoring this Electra. The reserve is well below this, f course, ut the quality of the restoration is obvious.

I require an immediate $2,000 deposit. The balance is due, y wire transfer, ithin 7 days of auction close.

Good Luck bidding.
