1971 BMW 2002 Additional Info:

To the best of my knowledge the car is original and complete with the exception of one overspray of paint by a previous owner. I had intended to perform mechanical and body restoration on the car and did some minor disassembly and removal of parts from the vehicle. I have those parts along with many valuable spare parts that I acquired over several years to use in the restoration. The removed original and spare parts are included with the vehicle in this auction.

Mileage shown on the odometer is 16673. I don't have knowledge of the actual mileage. The previous owner told me the car spent its life in California and Oregon. I have reason to believe that is accurate given the limited amount of body rust but cannot confirm it.

Condition Disclaimer: I am not a trained professional automotive technician. The observations below are based on my own experience, inspection and photographing of the vehicle and may not be a complete and accurate accounting of the actual vehicle condition.

General Condition Electrical/Mechanical: Every electrical and mechanical system in the car will need to be thoroughly gone through, tested and repaired before the car will be roadworthy. Known mechanical problems when parked were worn flywheel ring gear. worn second gear synchro, Frigiking air conditioning condenser leaking, worn front suspension bushings and struts and weak braking. The engine performed well at the time with no visible oil leaks or smoke. The electrical system also functioned well including charging, ignition, lighting and gauges. The tires appear as new but are unsafe for the road due to age and should be replaced.

General Condition Body: The body is very straight and I haven't found any indication of collision damage with the exception of the passenger side rear corner. It appears there was a low speed impact that slightly bent the right rear bumper corner and bracket, and pushed it into the bodywork. Visible areas of rust include left and right fenders where they connect to the lower rockers, left and right rear quarter panels underneath the rear window aluminum trim, small area on right rear wheel well lip, under the pedal box, very minor surface rust on front bumper, surface rust on the spare tire well inside trunk. My observation indicates that the underside of the floor pans, lower rockers, trunk floor and spare tire area are solid. All of the glass is intact. The dash is very cracked but I'm including another used one that has very minor cracking. The headliner is in very good condition. The driver's seat has a stripped pivot bolt that needs repair and seat front and rear upholstery covers are in fair condition, as is the carpeting. The front interior door panels are in poor condition and the rear panels are in fair condition. The steering wheel is shot but I am including a replacement in good condition.

In my opinion, the car is in very complete, solid condition and would be a very good restoration candidate for someone willing to put the time, money and effort into getting it running and back on the road.

The sale of this vehicle and parts is final and post sale refunds or negotiations will be not be possible or considered. This is a 50+ year old non-running vehicle and it is the auction bidders responsibility to determine the condition and suitability of the vehicle to his/her own satisfaction prior to submitting a bid through ebay.

Spare Parts: I'm including many valuable spare parts with the vehicle in this auction. Highlights include, but are not limited to a complete new belt trim set, new rubber for the doors and windows, new trunk seal, used upper and lower dash with very minor cracking, used retractable front seat belts, used left and right grills in good condition, new hubcap set, two replacement flywheels with good ring gears, new brake and clutch master cylinders and clutch slave cylinder, new front tie rods and center link, bushings and strut cartridges, and many other new and used electrical, mechanical and body parts. A spreadsheet listing all of the parts is included with the photos. Parts are currently in numbered boxes and may only be inspected and confirmed after final payment and title transfer. Buyer is advised to open the boxes and verify the parts in my presence before they are removed from my custody. Any claims of missing parts or incomplete and misleading descriptions after the parts are removed will be disputed by me to the fullest extent.

Vehicle and Parts Pictures: I have many additional images of the vehicle (all around the outside, the underside, engine compartment, interior and trunk) and all of the parts included with the vehicle. I will send these images upon request through ebay. I will not send any images or communicate with any prospective bidders outside of ebay.

Buyer is responsible for safely removing the vehicle and parts from my property and shipping to the final destination. I will not assist the buyer in moving and loading the vehicle.

Payment: Verified payment in full through Paypal will be accepted prior to title transfer and removing the vehicle. Cash payment will be accepted under the following conditions: Buyer or Buyer's Agent must hand cash directly to my bank to be counted, verified and deposited during the bank’s business hours. Title will be signed and transferred to Buyer, and vehicle and parts may be removed only after my bank counts, verifies and deposits Buyers cash. Cashiers checks, wire transfers or any other payment method are not acceptable.
