• BMW engineer Max Reisböck transformed a wrecked 323i into the first E30 wagon in 1984 to take his family on vacation. While the Touring didn't initially appear in the firm's product plan, it was fast-tracked to production after executives saw Reisböck's one-off creation. About 103,704 units were sold from 1987 to 1993, and none were officially brought to America.
