1985 BMW 5-Series 535i Additional Info:
Incredible find! I discovered this pristine original car in a carport of a home being sold from an estate, covered with dust from sitting for many years untouched. One older lady owner prior to my ownership, purchased at the local Knoxville BMW dealer, obviously very low miles and little use as you can see from the photos. Last registered back in the 90's, so had very little use before the owner became ill and did not drive the car. Never in an accident, original paint, no rust at all. In order to get the car running, I had a new fuel tank installed, fuel pump and lines, batter, and more. With parts and labor close to $2500, the car now runs and drives well, transmission shifts well, and it is solid as a rock! Drives and handles like a newer BMW!The interior is supple and in beautiful original condition! Carpets are nice, dash is excellent. All glass is good. Electrics are functioning.
The shop technician said that the odometers commonly stop working on these cars, as this one has. I am unsure when exactly it quit, but the miles shown are just over 34,000, and by the cars appearance, it is likely not much more than that, but I cannot provide an exact mileage. The BMW specialist said that enthusiasts will fight over this car because the dash is uncracked, which is apparently rare to find! The original paint is in remarkably good condition as is the entire interior.
I collect British cars, and that is my passion, so have decided to sell the car and let someone finish the tinkering and enjoy this car. I have not driven the car as a daily driver and it sits at a storage lot presently covered. Please come check it out yourself and I will be happy to show it, or email me with questions and I'll answer to the extent of my knowledge of the car. A similar car that was restored sold for $45,000 on Bring a Trailer this year, so you know this is a good investment. Original cars are hard to find. My reserve is a small fraction of that.
The car is sold in its as is condition with no warranties. The car is older so may require additional mechanicals to drive regularly, and one cannot expect it to be perfect as new.Tires are older so cannot recommend driving it long distances, so do so at your own risk. I am providing a clear title in my name.Front Vols license plate does not convey (negotiable if you're a Vols fan! haha)Payment of a $1000 deposit must be sent by Paypal or wire transfer upon auction end, no later than 24 hours. Balance due in 7 working days, with pickup by you or your transport within 2 weeks. I can grant additional time with storage fees paid by you.
Thanks and good luck!
