1981 BMW 7-Series Additional Info:
1981 BMW factory turbo Euro-model 745i (E23 body). Gray-market import, have EPA/DOT releases. Unknown miles on chassis, car is completely rusted out and the rear brake lines rusted out too. Car starts and moves but is NOT DRIVEABLE without brakes! Bring a trailer or dolly. You're basically buying a great drivetrain with a free rusty car to roll it around.
Engine: 60k miles on complete rebuild, 8:1 forged pistons. Sonic checked and bored out to 3453 cc size. Rebuilt turbo. Only 2k miles on $2200 head rebuild by Metric Mechanic. It's now a HiFlo ST head with 275 deg Asymmetric Sport Cam & beehive valve springs. Runs great, makes awesome power when run at 15 psi boost, pulls hard to redline.
5-speed OD manual transmission conversion with all BMW parts & "HiTorque" clutch from Metric. 3.46:1 open diff. Very good 225-60/15 tires on clean "bottlecap" rims.
Self-leveling rear suspension is complete & working, no leaks, replaced both struts ($480) and flex hydraulic hoses a few years ago. Check the prices at BMW for a new hydraulic pump or the control switch unit (sit down first, they're both well into 4 figures).
Good leather non-power seats (car was originally cloth so I don't have full interior). Bronze (not US green) glass except windshield which is pitted thanks to poorly covered dump truck loads in MO.
