Also known as a e10, his 2002 tii was the epitome of performance available at the time with the foward thinking design of Kugelfischer fuel injection. 1972 is considered by many the best year for the tii. The market for these cars has started to move upward drastically in just the last year, his is a fleeting opportunity to obtain a relatively un-touched version before they get out of reach.
Helmut Werner Bönsch, MW’s director of product planning, nd Alex von Falkenhausen, esigner of the M10 engine, ach had a two litre engine installed in a 1600-2 for their respective personal use. When they realized they had both made the same modification to their own cars, hey prepared a joint proposal to BMW’s board to manufacture a two litre version of the 1600-2. At the same time, merican importer Max Hoffman was asking BMW for a sporting version of the 02 series that could be sold in the United States. The 2.0 engine was sold in two states of tune: the base single-carburetor 2002 producing 101 hp and the dual-carburetor high compression 2002 ti producing 119 hp. The 2002 tii used the fuel-injected (130 hp) engine from the 2000 tii, hich resulted in a top speed of 115 mph
Finished in a brilliant white, he professional paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Front and rear bumpers with original equipped over riders have an excellent fit and chrome finish that show well. The windshield is in nice condition, owever there are four small chips present. All aluminum trim pieces are present and have a brilliant finish. Weather stripping is still very pliable with very little tearing or shrinkage we could find. Extremely rare Marchal headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks. An added bonus are the front bumper mounted yellow amber Hella driving lights.13 inch sport alloys are straight with very little marring or curb rash. The paint work is exceptional while the body shell appears straight and solid with no evidence of major rust repair on the shell especially in the typical trouble spots on the floors, ockers and shock towers.
Inside, he black leatherette front and rear seats look like they have been restored and all look great with no major signs of wear visible. The black door panels and carpet compliment the exterior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges (including working clock) are original (with the exception of additional switches to accommodate the upgraded electronics) and function as designed, ith the exception of the odometer and horn. The Momo “Prototipo” 3 spoke steering wheel is in very good condition, ith no cracks and a functioning horn. Another feature is a newer Sony MP3 WMA AAL stereo system with remote and upgraded Sony speakers in the rear. Included is a small collection of spare injection pieces (with original plastic runners) radiator and original owners manual.
