1980 BMW 5-Series Additional Info:
I've owned this car nearly 13 years and it's always been a cherished part of my collection. I am the 3 owner and it's been enthusiast owned since new. With that being said, I don't drive her much anymore as life and some of my interests have changed so it's time for me to pass her on the next custodian who will preserve, drive and care for her. While everything is up to parr, this is a 37 year only car. The only known issues are the AC compressor leaks at the front seal and losses its charge over time, the cruise control no longer works and the rubber bushings for the shifter lever are worn causing the lever to be a little floppy. The windshield was replaced but the trim ring was not 100% correct, an OEM replacement is included with the car. There is one small spot of surface rust near the front windshield that needs to be touched up but other than that, the finish still looks amazing for its age. The sun roof works but moves slowly as I never used it.
This E-12 528i is a very nice and well cared for car. She's always been stored indoors under her factory fitted car cover and never left outside. As repairs have been needed, she's always received correct parts and service. In the last few years the following repairs and maintenance has been preformed. I have receipts gong back to 1999.
In the last 3500 Miles.1. Transmission was rebuilt due to reverse getting weak.2. Original exhaust was replaced with NOS parts from the Cat back.3. New Windshield and Gasket replaced.4. Complete tune up Wires,Cap,Rotor,Plugs etc.
In the last 1500 Miles and since I moved to Phoenix.5. Original radiator was re-cored, All fluids changed in the entire drive train.6. New water pump.7. Rebuilt head, new gaskets and head bolts. This was instigated due to a weeping head gasket, the car was never over heated.8. Fuel tank was removed and sealed9. NOS fuel tank sending unit installed10. Fuel lines replaced11. Valve Adjustment12. New hoses,Batt and alternator.
Just before I purchased the car the front end was rebuilt and in total, Ive put less than 10K miles on the car during my ownership.
I had always planned on converting this car to a manual 5 speed and I have all the parts to properly convert her over. Other than the good used (Getrag 265/6) 5 speed gear box, matching diff pedal assembly and mounts, all the other mechanical parts are new and will come with the car if sold at the buy it now price..
You couldn't even restore a car to this condition for 1/2 of what I'm asking so please keep that in mind. Take a close look at all the pictures and please email any questions.
Thank You
