Purchased new on August 25th, 1951 by Mr.Llewellyn in Sussex, England beautiful piece of automotive history has been well maintained its entire life. Vehicle comes with the original owners manual, original license plate, copies of the original build sheets/chassis cards, and much more………
The exterior shows nicely still wearing the original color of Belco black. This classic underwent a Concourse restoration in the 1980s, and at that time this vehicle was stripped down to its bare frame. The interior has been completely redone, which includes the leather seats, carpet, headliner, and all the beautiful walnut trim. The original 4.5 litre engine and 4-speed manual transmission were also rebuilt at this time. Since then the car has been well preserved with only several thousand miles put on the vehicle since. Vehicle still has the original gauges and original factory radio, which are in great cosmetic and mechanical condition.
The Mark VI Saloon which was replaced by the R type model. This was also the first year Bentley (under the ownership of Rolls Royce) fitted its own bodywork, which was built by the Pressed Steel Company. This particular car is also 1 of very few that was sent to Coachbuilder James Young & CO of London, which is considered to be the finest coachbuilder of Bentley and Roll Royce automobiles. This is all documented on the build sheets provided by RREC.
